Default Goodwood festival of speed

For the first time, im considering going to Goodwood next month. However at £53 a ticket for the saturday, its bloody pricey, which is fine if it is a great day but as ive never been and dont know anyone who has, i thought id ask for peoples experiences on here, who've attended the event before.

Ive also got to travel well over 100 miles to get there as well but from clips ive seen ,it does look good with awsome cars.

How do you folks rate it?

Seconded.

If I was restricted to only going to one motorsport event a year - it would absolutely be Goodwood FoS - It's fantastic, and if the weather's good, even better!

Added to say - 100 miles... is that all? What are you messing about deliberating for?

The only problem you'll have now (or soon) is getting tickets. Good job you're only 100 miles away and dont need a hotel, as you'd never find one within 50 miles of the place!

Get your credit card out now!

Just bought a ticket!

I intend to travel the day before as ive not been to this part of the country before and id like to see some of the area.

As mentioned, theres absolutely no accommodation available that weekend, so will drive the truck and sleep in the back !

Really looking forward to it now.

How much would it cost you to go and see Fast and Furious at the movies.

Times that by 5 then you're not even close. Times by 100 and you're near.

I used to go up till a few years ago and used to get upset by the price but what a day.

Seeing them warm up the cars and the Barry Sheen bikes blah blah blah blah.

Just a fantstastic day to get close to the cars,

And if the weathers warm and someone else's driving then the beer goes down good too.

Have fun

I'm going on the sunday, driving from norwich which is between 4-5 hours away. Going to head as far down on the previous night and get a few hours kip in the car before getting down in time for the car park to open.

We went a few years ago.....

I must admit it was a good day, plenty too see, lots of various types of cars/bikes to see so you don't get bored looking at the same thing.

Rally stage in the woods is good too

It is expensive but it's one of those things that if you want to go just pay up then forget about it. You get ripped off here whatever you do really so if you let the price rule you, you would never go out/go anywhere.

We travelled from Ipswich so a good few hours drive. Found a premier travel inn place which was doing an offer at the time for £29 per room for the night, a right bargain it was. Was about 20 mins drive from goodwood.

Have fun, im sure you will.

Not yet but, only ordered on the 3rd June so early days. On the confirmation email, it says that " tickets will be dispatched as soon as possible, no later than five days prior to the event"

Ordered mine 3 weeks ago, not a great fan of places that send them out near to the event date, doesn't give much time in the event they get lost en-route.

Never too old at the Revival to enjoy the ladies in their '50s gear with the shortish skirts and stockings with seams.

Very attractive believe me.

They don't seem to mind a bit of jiving at the trad jazz bandstand if you ask them nicely!

The revival has a very special place in my heart. My father spent his last day alive there last year. He went every year with friends regardless. A very close pal of his actually lives in the only house on the grounds as he's a pilot.
He spent the day watching the racing before retiring back to the house to enjoy a few drinks and dinner with his best friends.
What a way to spend your last day.
I'll be there this year as will my father I'm sure.

Yes I can understand that well enough. The atmosphere is such that everyone walks around with a smile on their face. Hard to beat for certain.

Does his friend own that black Harvard that is always parked there?

I've been told that the Revival will have 25 Spitfires this year.

There are only 26 still flying in the world!!

There will be 100 Indy cars at the Festival of Speed to celebrate 100 years of Indy.

I can highly recommend the rally stage.

Me having a run with Colin Mcrae a few years back.

My daughter did the rally stage with Andy Burton in his Peugeot , they were running second best time to Hirvonen in the Subaru at one point. I managed to get a DVD of her run from the production company as well. She borrowed Nicky Grist's overalls for the run, and strutted about all day in them posing away.

Yea it's Graham. Lovely guy as are his two sons. I spent the day there with them a few days after my father passed away. Was nice to be there with the people he was with if you know what I mean.
I'll be there this year with Graham, he offered me a bed for the weekend but not sure if I'll stay yet.
