Its not Pembroke, its Milford Haven or Rhoscrowther. Looks like Rhoscrowther to me.

Very sad news for all involved!

(Seem strange that two tankers would be going fast enough to cause that much damage to each other. Most plants have speed limits of 5 - 10 mph. )

It is Rhoscrowther, the same plant that used to belong to Texaco that was involved in another incident a few years ago and in the early 90's had a fire following a lightning strike.

I'm wondering if one of the tankers was stationary and being filled up. When the other hits it, discharge connection breaks, fuel leaks, ignition source, near to storage tank, domino effect.........................................

Sad.

Where you getting it was two tankers colliding? Can't see that reported anywhere.

I live in Haverfordwest which is the next town along from Milford. Know a few people on site but got a text from them all to say they were OK.

Looked to me like they were cleaning one of the tanks and made a mistake - not that I know much about the job.

Simon C - are you from around these parts?

Edd the link posted above seems to have changed! Yesterday it mentioned two tankers , it now says work being carried out on a tank!

Edd listen to the video clip at 1.20.

News I've heard through the grapevine is that is was a gasolene tank that was "Out for maintenence" and should heve been cleaned to a hot work standard to allow the work to progress.....obviously not.

Just rumour at present though.

Anyone heard what contract company is involved?

I've worked in both the Chevron plant at Rhoscrowther and the LNG terminal as Milford and it is always in the back of your mind that these things can happen more so though in the LNG side of things where we did most of the work. They can be very dangerous places at times.

I know but don't think I should mention it. A well known local contractor anyway.

My wifes uncle is a welder and is on site most of the time. He has told the odd hair raising story in the past.

Ah, I love it down here. I'm from Oxford originally. Great place to bring up kids.

Yes it is a lovely part of the world and I always enjoyed working down there. Had many good hols there as well spending our days on Barafundle Bay one of the best beaches to be found anywhere.

Fair enough. I work at a refinery and we have a lot of contractors coming and going from various companies, hoping none of them are involved.

So did I, but I bet I'm looking at it through rose tinted glasses. Used to love Fecci's in Tenby, that was the treat when I was down there.

When Iwas a cadet, we managed to get a day out round Castlemartin with the Panzer division. Standing next to a Leopard when its firing its main gun is a feeling to behold!
