Should i buy or lease a car
I am planning on buying the Mrs a family car in august and have a budget of about 10K if we buy or £300 a month if we lease.
She ideally wants a small 4x4 and we can get a Nissan Qashqai Ntec with all the gadgets on for about £250 a month and £800 up front.
That would be £6800 over two years and we get the benefit of having a brand new car and stress free driving.
Or we buy a car maybe a x3 or something similar and hope nothing goes wrong.
My question is leasing a car a waste of money and am i chucking away £6800. If i buy a car for 10K it should be worth more than 4K at the end of two years should it not?
Any advice would be good.
Thanks

Not sure myself, i have a few mates who work next door in the Nissan plant and they all lease the cars via work, but they get them a fair bit cheaper (around £200 for a 4WD Qashqai, and £150 for a new Juke)
Not sure how the public lease schemes work, but they ones they are using next door are completely "no brainer"
£150 per month for a Juke and all you do is fuel it for a year (iirc they dont pay insurance either!?) then hand it back and get a new one? AWESOME IMHO.

I would prefer to buy one.
Modern cars are more reliable these days, you just need to make sure you are getting a good one in the first place with a reliable reputation.
I have a ten year old BMW Mini which is in good condition, I do look after my vehicles, and it goes as well as ever and I have never felt the need to change it. Easy to drive and plenty of space in the back with the rear seats down.
They do hold their value very well too.

I would like to buy brand new but they lose so much money in the first few years. I think I might look for cars 3-5 years old with less than 60k.
I need something we can get a pram etc in otherwise i would like a mini.
Thanks for the advice so far.
