My son has arrived!
Charlie Robert Purvis was born on Wednesday the 18th of May at 10:12 am, weighing just a diddy 6lb 4oz's. Both mum and charlie are both doing great and have now been home for a few hours.

First day or two out of hospital were a bit traumatic mind as both the missus and him were finding their way with the whole breastfeeding thing. Good as gold now though and growing rapidly

First day or two out of hospital were a bit traumatic mind as both the missus and him were finding their way with the whole breastfeeding thing. Good as gold now though and growing rapidly Mrs had a 'sweep' by our local midwife on Tuesday at 12.30pm as he was already a week late. Marie then went into labour at 11pm that very night, but the contractions were already at just 3 minutes apart and they were no more than that for the next 10 hours! She had no let up at all. By 8.30am she was ready to push and after 45 minutes of trying, Charlie wasn't coming out and his heart rate started to drop. So they decided to take them to theatre and attempt delivery with the aid of forceps. Very traumatic and I never want to have to wear scrubs again! I was wreck from the moment they mentioned the word 'theatre'.
But they were fantastic and I cannot fault the NHS staff at all.
He had a good old feed from mum 45 minutes after birth and then again 2 hrs later. But hasn't latched properly since then. So for now he is on the bottle which he is lapping up very nicely. Marie is going to try breast feeding or expressing again over the weekend as we do understand it's benifits. But after about 6 hrs of trying yesterday, Marie and baby were getting very tired and stressed. I just wanted mum and baby to be happy and for Charlie to get some nutiants inside him.

Aww, congratulations Chris. He's a beaut! Over a week late and still 6lb LOL, that's good going. Isaac is 9 weeks now and nearly 15 lbs himself after being a 10lb'er at birth No chance of Natalie coping with that on her little bewbies.
Sleepless nights do get better if at the beginning they are a pain. Isaac goes a consistant 7-8 hours between 8-9pm to 4-5am now so Charlie will be sleeping through next week
Again many congratulations, and congratulations to Coffin dodger too - even though we don't see eye to eye :P

Got there in the nick of time I think, we'd requested a water birth but her blood pressure was high and she was losing blood so they were then talking about a Caesarian as I think they thought the placenta was detaching. Baby heart rate monitor was also strapped on by now. I was also sh*tting myself at that stage
Luckily she was sufficiently dilated to go for a push so that's what happened and with the aid of forceps and a bit of butchery he was dragged out kicking and screaming Never got near an operating theatre or being scrubbed up, don't think there was time. Delivered with 2 hours of getting to hospital. 
10lb5oz so I guess he was always going to need a bit of assistance to come out All a distant memory now though

Also, just a check on people's opinion on here.
Marie's parents look after their grandson a lot (Marie's sisters little one) and he currently has acute tonsillitis and conjunctivitis. Obviously Marie's mum and Dad want to meet Charlie, but I have concerns. I rang the hospital to ask the opinion of a midwife and her words were 'Stay away!'
I explained this all via txt to Marie's parents and now they are getting arsey saying that we have 'hurt' them by not allowing them to visit us.
Surely I have a very valid point??

All I want is for him to be safe and healthy. He is currently sound asleep dreaming of his first drive in a go-kart.

Well COB incredibly is right.
If your in laws have no symptoms in a day or two then all good. They dont have to attend to an ill child if they spread the illness'. Frankly they really should know better than to visit while an illness is around..imo.

Congratulations to you and your good lady, the first year with our twins have flown past.
Regarding the parents, we have had the same thing, where I told my mother in law to stay away because she was ill, and it led to fall out. But over the past month both kids have had chicken pox, it is she who wants to stay away as she has never had them. She now understands my viewpoint was not unreasonable.
