Shell petrol stations...
Anyone else get irritated that seemingly in every Shell petrol station when you go and pay, the person on the till tries to pimp you 3 creme eggs for £1 or whatever similar confectionery product they have that week?
Also why do they only employ immigrants?

I have noticed that too they can be a bit pushy, and yes all the english staff from all the shell garages in my area have been replaced with non british staff, and the goverment wonder why us true british can't get work. Is it any wonder that we are getting ever increasingly P1553d of with immigration, now stick that on your notice board mr goverment

But yes, I get the same in my local Total station too. It's bloody irritating. They do it with whatever is about to go past its sell by date

As for Shell garages I rarely visit but there is one near me that's quite busy and never enough staff on for the custom. If I do visit and queue and ask why they can't get the staff it's always 'oh, we're just changing shifts ...' .... they must work some bleddy funny shifts that's all I can say!

Is running a petrol station a menial job? Must make a packet?
I would prefer that local people worked in my local petrol station though, instead it feels like stepping into part of something' istan.

yep it happens to me too,but what annoys me more is i've got a right geek who serves in my local shell and it doesn't matter how much money i spend i nearly always have the right money BUT he always has to check it!!!!!!!!!!! even if i count it out in front of him!!!!!!!that was until one day i snapped and told him it was all there and he needent check it EVERYTIME!!!!!

the worst for me is that savers store everytime i pay can i intreste you in a top up for your phone today? no **** off asking me im on contract and if i wanted to top my phone up i would ask you for a top up

There's two Shells in Scunthorpe, one down near Asda and one near Old Brumby. Neither try sell me stuf when I purchase petrol and I've not seen one immigrant working in either since I have used them (over 5 years).
To say there is maybe 2 miles difference I do find it irritating that they have different prices however

There is this particularly annoying one who asks if you want 3 creme eggs for £1 or a VAT receipt in this passive aggressive way and it's hard to understand him too.

ha ha youre not anywhere near shirley in west midlands are you thats exactly what i get every time i go to my local shell in shirley 3 for a pound no thanks do you want a vat receipt no thanks drives me mad every time i go

Tony why does someone asking you to buy creme eggs warrant a thread?
From what i have read in the past on SN your occupation and obvious excellent wages you recieve you could probably buy the petrol station.
Why moan over a £1?
You should be out spending to boost our poor economy.........

I dont think its limited to Shell TBH.....however my local shell has a tiny forecourt, pulled on yesterday after spending 3hrs giving my car a machine polish, looked like a new pin, ready for a show; the bird (immigrant indeed; Sri Lankan at a guess) says "you want a car wash?...i say no, she says "jet wash"...on it goes...even the guy in the que was laughing with me.....
