Default What you think, is this a bit sad?

My little Alfa is probably an MOT away from the scrapyard in the sky as it has alist of minor issues that make it uneconmical for repair. Now the only person who understands how much I really adore my slow assed Alfa is my missus and she has given me the idea of getting a large canvas print of it for the hallway.

I like the idea a lot but is it not a little pathetic having a picture of an old banger hanging on the wall?

I think you are probably right on the pathetic front. Have a key ring made out of the picture or something like that. You could hang a smallish pic of it in a study or games room if you wanted.

If it were me I certainly wouldnt want it taking pride of place in my living room. You may as well hang a sign saying 'I'm completely obssessed with my car and am probably a little unbalanced, don't strike up a conversation with me because before you know it, you will have been stood still for 30 minutes listening to me drone on about the new disk breaks its got'.

Granted that would be a pretty big sign, and you might not have anywhere to put it, but I think you get the point.

Get it crushed into a small cube and put it up on a podium in your living room.

Ha I like it!

I won't be selling the car as I think its unfair to move on a problematic car to someone. So I'm tempted to furnish my man room with the leather seats as they are very comfy would be great for chillin whilst listening to my hifi!

Doubt you'll need a spanner to remove them, just a good had pull should do the trick

I've got a 40x50" canvas drawing I did of my old WRX upstairs

Took me bloody ages so won't throw it out.

I dont think so. I have a picture of my first racer which looked as though it came from the scrap yard. I had a lot of fun in it and it did better than it looked it should do.

Its the memories that come with it which count.

Just fix the issues one by one, sort one a week until MOT time, if I can get a rust riddled Fiat 500 with a three page fail through you can get your Alfa through, but I suspect the lure of a new car is too strong....

A Fiat 500 is an iconic car that will hold value. A top spec 147 just doesn't. I could buy another 147 will half the mileage for less than what it would cost to put my car in good order.

But you are right a diesel is calling as tax, insurance and running costs of even a small petrol is rediculous now! I just changed the address on my car insurance which has less than 2months left and it cost me an extra 40 even though I'm living at the same postcode!

Just turn all the electrics on at once and then resist the urge to put out the fire.
At least you'll get the £40 back to put towards a car that works.

I was presented with a canvas print of my car at the last ever WYIOC Blyton trackday I organised. The missuse has flatly refused it space on the wall, so it gathers dust in the cellar until I have a man room or study of my own

Run the hose pipe over the car overnight, when you get up it will have rusted to dust, put the dust into an ern above the fire, nice talking point.

People will ask "ahhh who is in this lovely ern??" you can tell them its your Alpha, it got wet for a few hours and turned to dust...RIP............job done!!

One thing you won't find on my car is rust, its just an electrical fire waiting to happen.

It's Alfa by the way.

You could always have a photo of the car as your desktop wallpaper - of course this would mean your pc would randomly crash for no readily apparent reason from then on...

Nothing pathetic at all. I have a Audi Quattro in the garage, I can't bear to part with, as it was "born" the same year as my Son

Go for it
