Seems America is closing!
Seems they don't have a bottomless purse either!

Maybe Dave can send them a bail out package of a few billion aswell! if he sticks the rest of the army, navy and air force on ebay in a 7 day auction he could have the money by the end of next week.

And they gave the incumbent Obama a nobel peace prize; Yet he appears to be most useless president...EVER! Can't even keep peace within his own political house!
Mayby Dave can buy a few aircraft carriers off them on the cheap...save messing about building our own....and mayby get one with a runway long enough so one of our existing/remaining aircraft can take off from it.

The older you get the more you realise how all this is just a reactive game... politicians, presidents... none of them know what to do, just tactical decisions made in the heat of the moment to pander to the desires of the general population....
Trouble is as you get older you also stop GAFF about it

Jesus, it must be pretty bad if they are going to have to close parks and stop paying public sector workers. This doesn't sound like a small blip. Could the USA actually go bankrupt?

The BBC News page provides a bit more information.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-13008928
It seems it's not so much that they can't afford to run the country, its that they haven't agreed a budget and if they don't agree, they have to shutdown until they do agree.
Although the "Last one out, please turn off the lights" implication is highly amusing.

George Dubya as the 43rd president spent more money than ALL the previous 42 presidents combined. Obama was always going to be handicapped, even if he had a clue.

Yes I was thinking the same this morning. Obama gets it in the neck because the right wingers have spent all the mony whereas here Cameron is supported because the left wingers have spent all the money. Ah the complexities of party politics

Hopefully they won't get too into the whole "power projection" malarky!

But I suppose you would rejoice at that just because China are not the West as so must be 'good', nevermind the fact that Chinas foriegn policy so far is based on no principles other than making money and all ethics is subservient to that.

China will need a big military to do that and will have to 'intervene' every now and again.

We here all about their huge consumer population but I suspect these wealthy consumers are the minority and they won't have the buying power to support the majority that don't have a pot to pi55 in.
I think they are economic bubbles that will burn themselves out within 10 years.

After seeing that video online about Chinas 64,000,000 emtpy apartments and deserted cities, I'm not convined China or India for that matter, are really going to be the next economic super powers.

Lmao, and what exactly would you suggest american foriegn policy is based on?
Their unselfish desire to help their fellow man perhaps?
