We Need BIGGER Cuts!!
"From the way the news talk about those dreadful "cuts", you would never guess that not only is our public spending continuing to spiral upwards, but that it is still outrunning government income by nearly £3 billion a week.
According to the Office for Budget Responsibility, total managed expenditure for the financial year ending this week has been £694 billion. Current receipts are just £548 billion.
This leaves a gap of £148 billion, or almost £3 billion a week. Next year, the OBR projects that spending will rise to £710 billion while receipts will be £588 billion.
The fact that Mr Osborne predicts that annual spending is due to rise over the next four years by £50 billion and our national debt by another £300 billion seems to be one of the best-kept secrets in British politics"
Holy Crap!!!!

The world is in turmoil.
The East are in uprisings.
The west is suffering from financial meltdown.
The very earth is shaking and there are disasters weekly.
Nothing is as it was ........ is this the beginning of the end?

Government spending will fall "in real terms " by 3% by the end of this parliament, compared to the start. In financial terms it will increase. That doesn't even start to cover the deficit, never mind the debt. So, the current government isn't doing enough to cut back government expenditure that was racked up by the previous government ..... Quell surprise .... Tories in name only.
There is NO difference between all the main parties and, I suspect, that if A.N.Other party got into power they would very soon get corrupted by power and money as well. We need an Ollie Cromwell for the 21st century! Anybody any good on a horse ....

The rich need to pay their share and we would ease out of this mess .... trouble is, those in power ARE the rich.

Yes I agree with that, their fingers are dripping with greed.
If NL had not committed us to such enormous and useless government spending and controlled the bankers as well as immigration, we would still be solvent as we were when they took power in the first place.

Then tell me how much David Milliband is going to pay on non-parliamentary earnings?
Oh look! ... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/ar...#ixzz1IVuk2n7J ... "...
Quietly, he has set up a company called ‘The Office of David Miliband Limited’, which will be a tax-efficient vehicle for his non-parliamentary earnings. This means that all payments the former Foreign Secretary receives from commercial speaking engagements and other lucrative private work will be paid into the firm. It will be subject to corporation tax of 20 per cent (rather than the 40 per cent rate Miliband would have to pay on his income as an individual taxpayer). ..."
All tax "avoidance" and perfectly legal of course. And the Milipedes have form for this ... " ... Miliband is clearly a canny operator when it comes to tax. In the past, he exploited a Revenue loophole to reduce the family’s total death duty bill by using a so-called ‘deed of variation’ in respect of his childhood home. ...".
So, I'd stop bashing the bankers and instead cast some of your ire onto the political classes who look after themselves at the expense of us proles.

An indicator of just how stupid local councils are - and the wasting of money.
Business rates issued on 30th March - dated 14th March. Budget on the 23rd and Small Business Rate Relief extended until October 2012.
So that every single business rate letter than has to be re-issued.
What a f*cking stupid waste of money.
Our schools are rotting and the council built themselves a state of the art fortress.
Legalised coruption - ALL under Labour (Coalition maybe but Labour through and through_

Official Labour party policy is that the current cuts are too steep. You can't have it both ways.
The reality is a delicate balancing act. The coalition is cutting spending _just_ quickly enough to avoid funding problems in the bond market (a la Ireland, Greece and Portugal). Even at this level there is significant risk of a double-dip recession and widespread industrial action.
Though the numbers still look bad, the markets are giving the Tories the benefit of the doubt because they have a track record of fiscal responsibility - unlike another party I could mention.

So, tell me how much tax Bob Diamond pays then Pete (boss of Barclays)? And as a boss of a private corporation, albeit helped by the tax payer bailouts of other banks, what taxes does he "illegally" avoid?

Put simply, we need to do more, for less.
http://image.guardian.co.uk/sys-file...c.spending.pdf
Here is a great pdf of where the money go's. A few years old maybe, but it should still be fairly accurate.
Jobseekers allowance is 1.9 bn.
Incapacity benefit 6.6 bn
Disability benefit 15.2 bn
Income support 7.7 bn
Housing benefit 15.6 bn
A lot of that is not money for those that dont work, but also money for those that work, but are low paid. The only way out of that is training and education.

When it comes down to it, you're always going to need cleaners and the like. Large amounts of the population are always going to be low paid. We should be thanking them for the fact they're actually working and they deserve a little financial help to allow them to do that.

When was that? When they sold off North Sea Oil to pay for all the people sitting on the dole?
