Wink Car Motability Scheme Advice

Hi, just need some advice. on the 19th March 2011 i went with my mother to vauxhall dealer regards a motability car for her, she decided on one wasnt too happy about advance payment but it was what she wanted the payment was £849, she got the letter from motability on 22nd march confirming eligability and are still awaiting delivery date which is suppose to be around 8-10 weeks. Now on 1st april the advance payment on the same car is £249 so has dropped from £849 to £249 in 12 days, now i am not too happy as its me who is shelling out on the advance payment, will i get anywhere calling motobility 2mrw and see if they will drop the price as its been only a matter of days not weeks and a delivery date yet to be etched, or can she cancel the order and re order with someone else or same dealer. If it was just a couple of hundred pounds i would leave it but its £600 drop.Any help

Phone and see, TBH you may get somewhere or they may say well if you purchase something one day and the next it was on sale would you go back for the difference? and would you have any right too?

I hope you get it back as its your money.

Its easy enough to cancel if you require & order another. Dealer wont want to lose the deal so they will accomodate

Hi,
Iv just had a chat with my Mrs as she works for Motability and she said the following -
The price quide for motability scheme cars is released every quater (Jan - Mar) and knowone knows untill the list comes out what the prices will be. If you order a car near the end of the quater you are taking a risk as the same car maybe (And IS in this case) alot cheaper a few weeks time when the new list is out.
You will have to speak to the DEALER to cancel the car as it is them who has placed the order and not Motability. The dealer is the well within its rights to charge a cancelation fee.
If you cancel the order and then re-order the same car within a short space of time it is likley that Motability will investigate as to why this has happened and start asking questions.
In short, its a gamble when ordering a car near the end of the quater as the same car maybe alot cheaper when the new list is published. Aparently it states on the vehicle price list that a new price list is released each quater?

Hope this helps

(Oh, she also said to try and avoid calling on a Monday as they are extreemly busy and it may take a while to get through)

Please excuse my spelling as Im using my mobile phone and its a right pain when you've got sausage roll fingers like mine!

Cheers,

Stu

I would be truly shocked if a dealer made you pay a fee to cancel......(I,m not saying he isnt entitled to) I would approach the dealer and explain your position , I suspect in view of it being a Motability sale he,ll be sympathetic
Dealers are human beings too

It is disappointing and I hope you can get some kind of a fair deal out of them.

Mate, how long is a piece of string? As a company (transmission specialist) we would charge 15% for a cancelled order that couldn't be cancelled with the factory.

But you really need to ring them and try to re-negociate. Don't get angry with them, just be honest.
