A ****head he may well be, but how much more of one do you have to be to start a riot and lynch nearly a dozen people, just because someone burnt a ****ing book??

It seems there are parts of the world where the concept of perspective clearly hasn't been discovered yet.

You know the guy's name who led the mob of lunatics that murdered the 8 UN workers? I'm impressed, I didn't think it had been reported on any of the news wires.

Rev. Terry Jones is a twàt of the highest order; what exactly did he hope or expect to achieve? Religion poisons everything.

World is full of deluded *****. Religion gives ***** an excuse to murder but then looking at Libya it is pure desperation to cling onto power that is driving Gadaffi and his ******* followers to murder. Also Laurent Gbagbo in Ivory Coast not dissimilar. All religions are made up bunkum but plenty of other **** goes on anyway.

I think it swings both ways TBH, How many British/American flags and effigys of British PM's and American President's have we seen being burned now?

If it's good enough for then then,,,,

but the storming of the UN compound in Afghanistan has nothing to do with the rev burning korans. Two entirely seperate incidents being reported together to fabricate a link. Just like linking Sadam Hussein to 9/11.

I think I'll start a poll:
"What book or other easily replaceable item would cause you to go out onto the streets, start a riot, and behead random strangers who happen to work for a publicly-funded organization you vaguely mistrust, if someone on the opposite side of the world burnt that item?"

I might need to work on the title a bit to get it shorter, and I'd also appreciate suggestions for which items to put in the list to pick from

EH? I can't remember this?

I don't know why the UN didn't open fire on them when they knew they were going to be overrun though? Are they actually allowed to defend themselfs?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Keith_Blakelock

As Terry Lloyd reported for ITN news a few days later

“ ...his attackers were trying to decapitate him. Witnesses say that having wrenched his riot helmet from him, his attackers then repeatedly stabbed him in the body, and continuously hacked away at his neck. PC Blakelock lost several fingers as he tried to defend himself before the attackers fled, as more police, firemen, and ambulance men moved in to try and save him. Tonight Scotland Yard confirmed that the injuries were so grievous that it did appear the men were trying to behead the officer."

while we are at it an Irish mob dragged two british soldiers from their car - stripped them, tortured them, all in full view and filmed by the Army and news outlets, then bundled them into a taxi and shot both dead

At least in the case of the Blakelock murder and the corporal killings, you can say that the events which immediately preceded the mob's violence were a fair bit more serious than someone setting fire to some printed paper

Yeah, they unwittingly got caught up in a (IRA?) funeral courtege. The crowd realised they were Brits and rounded on their car. The Brits brandished their pistols to try to scare the mob off but they were overcome by sheer numbers. Taken to wasteground, stripped and shot.

I remember that like yesterday - disturbing, shocking and horrific.

All for being British, in the wrong place, at the wrong time.

true quite shocking --- I was 22 a fresh faced graduate, with so much to look forward too, and this really knocked the stuffing out of me tbh - it was the looks on their faces as they were dragged away, in front of the news reporters
