Euthanasia for a Wild Rabbit
There is a baby rabbit in that has appeared from the field into our garden and I know it is just a matter of time before a local cat gets it.
Assuming the cat doesn't kill it, what is most humane way of dispatching the bunny given it will likely be stunned and injured?

air rifle, or just give it a chance and see if it can survive? if you're insistant on killing it, the spade should sort it, if not break its neck, head in one hand body in other, and with a twist and snap motion it should do the trick
you should hear a loud snap noise.

Most traumatic kids films ever.

Not quite so traumatic when played with a Benny Hill soundtrack

I few mortally wounded Wood Pigeons have met their ends in our garden, no point trying to dress it up, if you are a Pigeon and you have a broken wing then its Game Over, even worse when one has done a few rounds with a small Terrier/Poodle hybrid called Rambo who is pacing round all puffed up thinking he is hard and tryign to wade in to finish the job. it isnt going to get fixed and keeping one alive in a cardboard box in the garage is more cruel than fetching Messrs Spear and Jackson from the shed.
I did do it by hand once, by wringing its neck but the head fell off and the body kept going for some time, didnt bother me one iota but the neighbour looking out the window was probably slightly freaked out
Kill it, quickly, then check if the neighbours are missing a pet bunny.

You can kill a rabbit with pretty much any sharp enough blow to the back of the neck, it definitely doesn't have to actually cut through. A well delivered karate chop should easily do it, or the nearest equivalent with a piece of metal pipe, hardwood stick, etc.
Little bit of trivia - the word for whiplash in French literally translates as "the rabbit jolt" (proving the point about how fragile their necks are).

Its a rabbit not a rabid flesh eating purple people eater, just go out with some cardboard and catch it, stick it in a cardboard box and take it to the RSPCA or wildlife sanctuary.
Have you ever tried to catch a rabbit!
Plus it's taken refuge between our playhouse and fence - a gap only a few inches wide.
I'd rather not stress the animal by trying to poke it out with a stick!

But surely you can get it to go into the playhouse a scattering of carrot lettuce and other enticing things, then a long length of string onto the door and when in side close the door.

It has a right to its life just like any other creature. Not much you can do if a cat does manage to catch it. The cat is likely to kill it anyway if it does catch it. If you trapped it and put it back in its original field it is quite likely to find its way back to your garden.
I think you would do better to let it do what it wants and hope that it gets away with it.

LOL You'll lot are awful. It's a cute bunny: stick it in a container and take it along to a RSPCA shelter.
PS Hazel, you've been feeling very tired recently haven't you! ......

Have anyone ever tried to catch a wild rabbit
I'd happily pay money to watch a human trying to catch a wild rabbit during the day.
Since I'll be there for a while, I shall bring my own chair, beer and snacks
