Yes ive been
Its all Culling,Taking the week, old or injured and converting them into food
Depends where you live but Scotland is the most popular realy, buy shooting times,or sporting gun, there quite a few that advertise in them.
You wont need a firearms licence if you go with a stalker as anyone can shoot if they are supervised buy the licence holder, they must be over 21

Roe aren't classed as vermin, Muntjac are. All deer except Muntjac are ccovered by seasons.
Best place to start would be the British Deer society, plenty of info and training requirements on their website.
David, quite easily, they taste great, although yes, being able to do it does take some seperation from being a modern human, once your used to it its easy. I prefer deer meat to beef and pork.

i know people who do seems more humane if done right than the stress of a comercial slaughter house, cant see any difference between shoot wild deer and eating them then eating free range pork.

But I have given up veal and haven't had foie gras for years, so I am making a start!
And I was born on a farm so not a complete townie - just a middle class softie I suppose

Perhaps not much difference but they do seem to be luxuries that we could easily do without and I thought the methods used to enlarge goose livers were pretty unpleasant for the birds. I could add Caviar where a 40 year old fish is destroyed just for a bucket of foul tasting salty eggs. And Shark's Fin soup - the list goes on.
Must go - off to club a seal.........

Les, your not alone. A lot of people I know once they have any animal in their sights they can't do it, 1 is an ex SAS sniper! Humans he didn't have a problem with, animals were a different matter.
Just goes to show, everyones make up is different. Personally, yes I had a problem with it when I first went out, now it doesn't bother me. Still makes me sad, but I know its food.

Could shoot one quite easily if I wanted, then skin it and cook it, just dont feel the need to, that said I might have another go at the Wabbits at the in laws this year though and make a nice stew for Sunday lunch.

Nor do you need to take courses before you shoot them.

With all due respect, that's probably because you don't understand it. How do you think venison gets on the table?
Stalked venison is invariably killed in a more humane way than anything that goes through a slaughter house (chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, pigs, cows, anything farmed commercially, the list is endless), or don't you eat any of those either?
