Where the &%*£ is Ed Milliband.
The Tories are at it again, just like they did in the eighties. They are passing small, rather boring unsexy laws which no-one takes much notice of, but which have a huge long term impact on people's everyday lives.
1. Restructuring employment law to make it harder to get fair treatment in a workplace dispute.
2. Extending the period before you have full employment rights in a new job
3. Proposing an alteration in the way pension obligations are met when previously public services are tendered out.
And where is Ed Milliband.

It's what the Tories do ... they are there to serve the Employers, the rich and the greedy. It is, as it always has been.
True, each small step is ignored ...... until, at some point within the next 2 years, something happens and we all wake up and say, "Hang On a Minute - why can I get sacked just because the boss doesn't like me?"
Then it will be too late, the 'peoples' laws will have been overturned - the rights of good law abiding citizens will have been removed - all hidden under the banner of 'Prisoners get the vote' hysteria!!
I did warn everyone that to put some Eton Boys in charge, people who only know silver spoons, people who have never worked a day in their lives, people who have inherited massive wealth, people who haven't had to work to get anything for themselves .... would be madness.
But you did, and now will have to pay the price - along with the rest of us!

Single incidents are unfortunate - what's MUCH more important is the general overwhelming POLICY of a party.
And the POLICY of the Tories is to put the people in their place and let the rich boys play at being bosses!

1. Closed the dental training schools because they thought we had enough dentists.
2. Downgraded apprenticeships as we had enough plumbers, electricians and anyway, tradespeople aren't important
3. Cut the link with earnings for pensions. dont worry, the private sector will take up the slack.
Short termism, and boy are we paying for it now. £300 for a filling, £90/ hour tradesmen and a pensions crisis which we will feel for decades.
I'm not a Labour supporter, but we need someone to speak out about whats happenning.

You haven't mentioned Maggie yet! Seems she was to blame for all of the UK's ills we are suffering from now. Notwithstanding the fact that she hasn't been pm for 20+ years. And the "80s" were longer ago than the 13 years we had under Nu Labia. Me thinks I'll blame the last government incumbants for most of the problems we have today (though the current lot aren't doing what they need to to put things right!).

The 80s were along time ago but it can take decades for effects to be seen.
As for the OP post - the 3 laws will make employers more willing to take on new staff. It's tough getting rid of employees who don't shape up which makes employers reluctant to take on new staff. The system is completely employee biased.

Now, we have all cried and laughed over The Kings Speech ..... why would Ed Milliband not endear the nation too?
I did, however, laugh this morning when he tried to say 'Statistics' and it came out as 'Sadistics'!!!
He won't be leader come 5 years down the line - I WILL BE!!!

You could argue she started the reliance on the financial industry. You could argue she closed the mines more out of spite to the unions that to the UK economy which created a huge unemployment black hole that has got increasingly worse over the last two decades.
The 80s were along time ago but it can take decades for effects to be seen.

Back to the original post, it makes sense to make it easier for employers to create jobs and to get rid of the hapless who don't cut it. Shame the public sector aren't as modern about all this as the private sector - we might have less pillocks like Bob Crow holding the nation to ransom.

I leave it to the readers of this post to find the words ....

Anyway with a bit of luck she will pop her clogs soon and I can crack open the champagne I have ready for the joyous occasion.

And I'd say the previous government bear more responsibility for that than do their predecessors

Milliband is a spineless little weasel. I couldn't even imagine him coming on here to be heroic from behind his keyboard.
...as for Bob Crow, sadly we no longer exercise capital punishment for treason.
