Default Returning a Sofa to DFS

good afternoon,

Has anyone ever had any experience of returning a sofa to DFS after having one delivered?

The problem we have is that we do not like the colour, we chose the colour from a swatch and they didnt have a sofa in the shop that was the colour we chose, so couldnt see one in full glory>

i have rang them and they say that they do not have any responsibility with it as they have made it to our specification, however do they have any duty of care if we do not like it?

I would even take a second hand replacement of the same sofa in a different colour, and i have suggested that if anyone else in the country has ordered one the same can they take ours as its brand new and only been here 30 minutes.

other than that i hope the colour grows on us, or alternatively does anyone want to buy a cream leatherr corner sofa with a foot stool

We had that but ours was only ordered for about 2 weeks. They told us as it was made to order they couldnt do anything. As we hadnt had ours delivered and it was on 2 years interest free i told them i wouldnt pay and they backed down.Ive seen returned ones for sale in there shops before so keep pecking away.Btw 3 months later part of the frame broke so £1400 and not the best, but they did send out a bloke who fixed it.Good luck

If they have provided what you want then they only have to do what they feel they wish to do.

Ask them to take it back, stick it in the SaleRoom at a bargain price - sell it and take a commission ....... the salesmen will do that as they are commission focused.

I don't think you have any legal comeback - UNLESS the colour doesn't match the swatch ...... does it?

Unfortunately that wouldnt really help you as no swatches will match 100%.

If it can be taken to court and the swatch is shown to be different in a material way - then the Customer can reject.

It's for a judge to decide how close a match it should be to be acceptable.

You ordered a sofa in some gay fluorescent pink colour and the shop has supplied it to you exactly as you wanted it and now you don't want it

Why should the company have to take it back put it on ebay if you don't like it!

I work with a rival company to DFS and to be honest you have no chance of them taking it back
Like any other retailer they will follow the letter of the law as it was handmade to order

With all due respect its a cream sofa. Just how could this variant of cream be difficult to live with? If you'd ordered what you thought was a burnt orange sofa but when it was delivered it was a bright orange I could empathise but cream any variation of cream is not the end of the world is it?

I'd just learn to live with it i'm sure you'll get used to it eventually

DFS are a shard of ****s who don't deserve to have a business but even I can't think it would be reasonable for them to take it back unless they factored in quite a handling fee.

gettin a new mrs is probably the cheapest thing to do!

yes you are right, its the mrs who doesnt like the colour, i like it to be fair! we have already returned the new curtains and cushions back to b & q sowill get different ones and that will mke it better.

Thanks to those with constructive comments to make i am ringing DFS back later, but i am pretty sure we are going to have to live with i!!

We got the sofa on finance, so if i just dont pay for it, whats the worst they can do?

Thanks,

Thanks,
Take you to court for the money which they will do. That will then mess up your credit rating for years to come so its not even worth thinking about. Remember your finance is not with DFS, it is with one of the big banks.

thank you so much for that constructive comment you made there.

yes clearly i have ordered a 'gay flourescent pink colour', and going off your post, maybe you would like to buy it. Because clearly if you think that cream is a 'gay flourescent pink colour' then maybe you should take yourself to the corner and have a word with yourself.

Before i joined this forum i had read on other forums that some of the members on here are *****, and you have proven them right there my friend IMO.

By the way, yes i do have a subaru before you start asking other gay questions about that.

Not being funny but if its anything like our dfs sofa give it 18 months and it will be knackered anyway. All the colour comes of and foam in the cushions collapses.
