Default House Search Websites

I am looking to buy a house in SW (England, not London) so are there any recommended websites to use.

I have been using FindaProperty.com which seems pretty good but should I be trying another one?

Want one with a decent search filter facility but do they all offer the same basic criteria?

Finally are most properties for sale now listed on these sites? And linked to that if a property is on one site will it almost certainly be on similar search sites?

Tips welcome

Cheers, David

RightMove is the only one worth using to be honest.

Globrix is another - but extremely poor compared to RightMove ...

Rubbish, globrix is an incredibly good site, particularly if you have any less usual must-haves, like garage AND garden (as opposed to a generic 'parking available' or 'outdoor space' like on most sites). The map function is also very well sorted, and never loses your search settings no matter how much you zoom in or out or pan around. Hotlinks straight into google streetview too, which is very useful.

Two golden rules.

1. Use Firefox to browse Right Move
2. Use Propertybee on Firefox

Job done

Thanks for that. Had a quick start with Globrix and certainly the search criteria are MUCH better than FindaProperty. Can't yet see how I can pull out places with a garden but I am sure it must be there.

So so far. david

not necessarily true a lot of agents can't afford right move nomore and I'm guessing more agents will be dropping out of it as another price increase is due

try:

zoopla
propertyfinder
findaproperty
thisislondon
and then look at net house prices and see what actual properties sell for in the area justcause the agent says it's worth x ect. it's a buyers Market good luck.

You click the 'More' button in the left-hand tab/column thing, select your options, then click it again to fold it back in.

That's our problem as we just don't know. Looking for a detached 2-3 bed place around £225k mark in a village environment but within say 15 miles of main town. Something with a bit of space and probably not a cramped new-build. Have been searching Glos/Devon/Cornwall although Cornwall possibly a bit too far and expensive from London. Coast would be nice but not somewhere wrecked by summer tourists or pissed up chavs like Newquay Any ideas? (PMs welcome!).

Thanks - I thought I'd tried that but will have another go

Is it really?

Try selecting a property, clicking through the photos - and then try to revisit a photo - the useless pile of sh1te won't let you!!

It's crap!

RightMove is the only game in town.

Globrix is run by Estate Agents, so it's just got to be rubbish!

NEVER had that problem myself, in all of the hundreds of properties I viewed when I was looking for mine, so I can only assume you've discovered a previously unknown DOI bug.

That's a technical programming term btw- see if you can guess what it stands for

Utter B*ll*cks! Do your research before you come on here spouting this cr@p. It was setup by a group of national newspapers. Not only that, it's free to advertise properties for sale on there, whereas sellers have to pay a fee to Rightmove, so you tell me which is more likely to be in connivance with the Estate Agents?

mentioned already, but Zoopla is an interesting site -- give you the prices previously paid for property, very helpful.....

Nah, WRONG!!!

It was set up by Danial Lee ... who attracted News International to take a minority stake!!

AND it IS sh1te compared to Rightmove .... if it wasn't then why does every Estate Agent use RightMove when Globrix is FREE!? Hmmmmmmmmmm ............

And Zoopla is GREAT!! The estimate value is brilliant ... it can get really close to the asking price OR, more importantly, warn you when a property is massively overpriced!! Estate Agents use it as an estimating tool.
