Any Peter Gabriel fans on here
If like me you are a fan of that old lefty ( ) Peter Gabriel you may like to listen to this. It is his piano based spontenous verison of Wallflower from Peter Gabriel IV (Security). He recorded it for Mary Robinson whose work with the Realizing Rights human rights organisation Peter is a big fan of. Wallflower is probably my favourite Gabriel track and this version of it although a bit rough and ready in places is rather special:

Thing with Peter Gabriel is you need to listen to an album about 10 times before you 'get it'. Then it never leaves you. I listem to PG III (Melt) or IV (Secuirty) today and they sound as fresh to me as they did back in the early 80s when they first came out. His songs are intricate, well crafted and beautifully recorded.
His website is fantastic too and he gives a perosnal video update once a month on it... how many other major artists do that?

Superb stuff.
I remember seeing him at Newcastle City Hall, around 1980. He was truly brilliant.
But the most amazing is that people would not leave. He played five encores - the last with no power (they had turned it off) and he played at an acoustic piano. You could hear a pin drop. It was Moribund the Burgermeister from memory.

He opened with Intruder. Very Numanesque - and walked down the aisle from the back of the hall to get on the stage. Don't get that nowadays. The place was only half full. Tragic. Saw Peter Collins' Genesis the same year - packed and yet collectively not the same talent as Gabriel.
Not bad from a man who is technically a pretty mediocre singer

A couple of tours ago he had The Blind Boys of Alabama supporting him. They were amazing in themselves, but therir final track had them all stood together in the round and they peeled away being led into the audience each in a different direction still singing the end of their track and when you turned your head back to the stage there was Peter Gabriel who launched straight into Love to be loved.... an amazing entrance!

Great song. Have you heard the live version from Athens originally on the laserdisc of the Secret World tour? That is an amazing version. It doesn't seem to be on You Tube and sadly I have no laserdisc player any more.

Took a few minutes longer than usual, but I think this is it:

Oooh, you just gave me goosebumps then! Love that track.
I've loved Peter Gabriel for a l-o-o-o-ng time. Genesis were never the same without him. I stopped buying their albums after 'Then There Were Three'
