WTF
£200 fine which he won't have to pay due to him being on benefits.
Words fail me.
If I'm only going to get a £200 fine, I'm tempted to find him and do the same

How on earth can I do my job with any kind of seriousness. If I go to a job like that:
Me – “Yes we will find the culprit, support you all the way, get him to court, support you at court and make sure justice is done”
Victim – “And what sort of justice can they give to help me come to terms with what’s happened – long jail sentence..?”
Me – “No, but he might small fine”
Victim – “Oh... do I get any say in this”
Me – “......No”

There is a guy in the general section who has just been fined more than that for speeding.
Should have been a suspended sentence, curfew order with 100hours community service at the very minimum IMO.
CPS and crown courts are a joke; And they are the ones who are unelected.
So it doesn't matter who we vote for, the same idiots are still running our legal system.

If there was ever a case for administrating a good hiding! I see nothing wrong in a sentence of a flogging for this kind of case. I feel so sorry for that poor girl.
I understand your frustration Felix since I feel the same way as you do.

There are not words to describe how unjust this is.
Why can no governement take a firm hand with the judges and make them hand out proper punishments. And don't quote human rights at me, we should revoke our signature of the European Human Rights bill and start using common sense. If you commit a crime like this your human rights just went out of the window in my book nio matter how old you are.

Call this justice? Teen thug who threw brick into a talented young athlete's face, leaving her with a fractured skull, is fined just £200

No, I'm afraid that it is Police evidence and case preparation that is a joke. Regrettably, many serious cases have to be thrown out by the CPS because there is no possibility of a conviction being secured owing to the woeful Police "contribution".

You are going to have to explain that one
We provide the evidence that is presented to us. This goes to CPS and the courts who decide if they can be bothered to run it, can they think of an excuse as to why they can't run it and can they pass the blame back to the police.

Under the Criminal Law Act 1981, UK criminal law makes it a crime to agree with others to commit an offence, even if the commission itself would be impossible.

To me this highlights another failing in the judutial system, soft on real crime, hard on odd offenders
