Yes saw that earlier. I hope it's not as bad as first reported, but he does have fractures to an arm and a leg so he won't be on the grid on March 13th

He damaged his arm in 2003 so I hope there aren't any complications because of that.

will be a shame if he is dropped. was talented and a little gung ho at times, making F1 a little less predictable

He won't be dropped if he can get fully fit again. He is in the top 5 drivers on the grid IMO and just hasn't had the car to show it with yet.

He is most definatly a rising star, so fingers crossed he makes a full enough recover to race again. The high stresses in the car as we all know, demand a full recovery.

Waiting for fuller details on it, but will be a shame he won't be on the grid for the start of the season.

Next question, who will take his place?

Sorry to see that.

I have great admiration for his driving ability and I hope he will be on the grid for the first F1 Race.

Hulkenburg or Heidfeld surely have more experience than the contracted Senna and Grosjean.

Let's hope Kubica makes a swift recovery.

Someone just mentioned he may lose his arm, not sure how true that is.
But apparently there are doubts about him being able to carry on in F1 because of previous injuries.

In another report it says he could possibly lose his hand due to it being crushed

Best waiting for an official release as the media and public will always speculate at times like this. Hope he fully recovers, a very talented driver.

Wreckage of the car looks terrible, massive intrusion into the footwell, unless done by rescue workers but look more crash related.

Not heard anything other than internal and limb injuries but no threat to life. Hopefully the amputation stories are untrue.

When will someone take the media in hand over stuff like this? His famnily and friends don't need to be reading conjecture like that. The press are f**king morbid vultures the lot of them and yet they are allowed to say what they like with no comebacks

I hope he does recover and can still continue in F1, he does have a lot of talent. I was at Montreal when he had his "off", we were across from where it happened, and I really did think that he wasn't going to make it, but thankfully he did.

What I'm curious about is how he managed to be taking part in a rally. I would have thought his F1 contract would have prevented him from doing anything overly dangerous, for obvious reasons. Then again, Mr Webber has his challenge thing and he banged himself up last year.

Think he really enjoys rallying... IIRC he was on the Rally Stage at Goodwood FOS a few years back.

Plenty of F1 drivers have done some rallying down the years..

t means Kubica will be forced to miss this week’s Formula One test session at Jerez in Spain, and also puts him in doubt for the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix next month. Top of the list to stand in for the Pole will be Bruno Senna, who raced for HRT last season and was announced as a Renault third driver earlier this week.
Tis very good for his contract to allow him to do other activities while off season, keep his reactions and driving up to level.

Not sure Bruno is exactly a replacements such, but will have to wait and see how he does in a better car I guess.

Reuters are the only press agency i`ll take any notice of, according to them the surgeons are trying to re-establish the functionality of Robert Kubica's right hand. Hope he comes through fine.

Some footage of the damage to the car. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ7f4SkyXXs. Looks like a real freak accident. Hope he recovers fully.

From the intrusion into the footwell I would well believe that.

Apparently this is the latest on Robert Kubica

"Kubica out of 7hr surgery, Doctor says best to wait a week for definitive news, warns it could be a year before he can use hand properly".

The good news is that it looks like they have not had to amputate any of his limbs and that they are going to give his hand the best possible chance of recovery, it looks like he`ll be out of racing for a good while but i`m sure he`d take that given the circumstances of how much worse the outcome could have been.

That's a good start, here's to a speedy recovery and a full one. There were doubts Massa would live or drive again and that worked out ok.

Terrible news

Theres a picture of the car "in situ" at the accident scene and the armco is wrapped around the front of the car and punched through into the drivers side. In some ways the armco looks like its saved both lives as it looks quite a drop on the other side.

Renault had high hopes this year with their car. They've got Petrov who is largely miss rather than hit and I think Senna as a test driver. They really need a decent driver up front.

Such a shame after this...
http://www.formula1.com/news/headlin...1/2/11707.html

Hopefully he'll get back to racing in F1, but i doubt he'll be the same again. Massa has done well after his incident, but he's not really shown what he had been capable of before.

Sadly barring a miracle (or unless the media are embellishing the whole issue) I doubt he will ever drive an F1 car again

Hope I am wrong!

I hope you are wrong too. I am very sad to hear about his injuries. I hoope he can do an Archie Scott Brown who was a very skilful driver despite his severe disabilities.

Sad news guys, iys great to see a real motor head who loves racing rather than the money and glam. Sure he will be back but maybe not in a F1 car
