Poor Amanda Holden

This must be utterly devastating and my heart goes out to her, her husband and her family.

It pains me to say so, but this does seem to back up current medical thinking that women who leave it relatively late in life to have kids are taking quite a risk.
Utterly tragic nonetheless, and I hope she and family eventually find some way to come to terms with it.

I doubt it - two miscarriages in two years is pretty bad luck even at 39.
My wife had ours at 37 and 39 and both were fine. Down's was viewed as a much greater risk than miscarriage.
If there is a miscarriage it is usually very early in the pregnancy. On average only one in seven fertilised eggs will go to term, at any age.

Nat told me about this just a few minutes ago. Really frightened me as shes 8 months herself.
I genuinely feel for Amanda Holdern but two things strike me as odd
1. Why didn't she act quicker when her baby hadn't been moving? You don't wait a week before acting upon no movement from baby (me and Nat went a few hours when she was about 23 weeks and went straight to hospital - everything was ok thank god, trapped wind )
2. Her work schedule. I personally believe (and this isn't crititism) that she should have been taking it more easy without the BGT and all the awards ceremonies etc.
I'm certainly not saying the above caused her to lose her unborn child but could it have been a contributory factor. either way my thoughts are with her today, very sad

Having lost 2 babies myself, one when I was 26, so hardly "old", my heart goes out to her
I also had a friend who lost twins, one at 12 weeks and one at 23 weeks, but 7 months is awful. Feel really sad for her.

How terrible for them.
At seven months I'm assuming she still had to go through labour to deliver the baby stillborn or would they remove it by c-section? That must be such a traumatic experience either way.
Just had to give my little girl a hug (1 next week). Makes me even more thankful for what we have.

Seriously, what the fvck does that have to do with anything? She was moments away from the happiest moment of her life and it was cruelly snatched away from her.

8 months - she'll be fine
Our first child was still born at 6 and a half months, our second was 5 weeks prem and our third was 7 weeks prem.
Both kids had blood transfusions (4 each) whilst still in the womb and are now 5 and 8 years old.
I know exactly how she's feeling and it's not something I'd wish on anyone.

Members on here are mothers and fathers and mums and dads to be so that sort of random outburst is going to upset people.
I am assuming (because of your complete lack of compassion) that you are not a father, or that you are simply a stupid heartless waste of breath.
People do bad things and make stupid mistakes all the time... So are you trying to say that what has happened to her is justified because she made a mistake??
Get a grip.
