At what age did you start smoking? I'm just curious.

I tried my first at 14 and properly started at 15, now 27 and have quit a few times for around 6 months but end up starting again.

Hopefully after this weekend i shall give it up, really determined as it costs a fair amount and would rather spend the money on the car.

smoking is ridiculous I have never understood it.

Bad teeth
bad breath
ruins skin
more chance of cancer particularly in the lung
yellow fingers
empty pockets
standing outside of social venues in rain.

They seem to be some of the negatives. Are there any positives? It doesn't look cool either.

I was very young when I first tried it - my parents owned a pub and I remember pinching a packet.

Smoked quite a bit at school but now I only have a few a day. A pack of 20 can last a week easy.

I got hooked into the nicotine hit. The hardest hit for me was from the first cigarette in the morning, though. Your head goes woooosh! Afterwards, its nothing but dividing one's day into snapshots with every useless *** break. Other than that, it did help me to concentrate, as the nicotine reached my brain, inflated my nerves, made me feel high, then calming me down, just to focus on what was in front of me, the multitasker. I know that even then, I was multitasking e.g. doing work on PC/browsing SN and smoking a ***, drinking a cuppa, and thinking of porkie pies in the oven.

Nasty habit, indeed.

I started to smoke quite late At 27. Smoked for 12 years, then gave up. Giving it up is the best thing I ever did.

I started at around 13, Gave up in November 2009 at the age of 26 If I'm completely honest though, I haven't noticed any difference except I have put on some weight as I tend to eat when I'm bored now instead I don't seem to have anymore money either Still, They say it's bad for you so who am I to argue

Probably 14-15 like most kids..I'm 42 now.

Not smoked cigarette for 26 days now!!! see my thread.

Yes its mad and bad but kids will always try it around that age.You either carry on or you don't!

I'd be more worried about the flipping **** kids see now rather than ****!!!

Started when I was 20 and was bored on a train ride in Canada from London Ontario to Calgary with nothing but flat fields full of wheat to look at.

I found that if I inhaled I used to get a serious coughing fit so I stopping trying thank goodness.

Was still hooked on them but managed to kick it 14 years ago I am glad to say.
