Thumbs up Insurance Claims-Let's hear your stories.

Saturday night, I was faffing about with my laptop, on the kitchen table. The usual glass of wine close by.
Decided I needed a glass of water. The dog is on my left side, snoozing on the floor, the cat was on the chair on the right. At the exact moment I got up,the cat jumped to the floor, dog thinks it's playtime and bolts for the cat.
I was on my way back to my chair next to the lappy.
Dog chasing cat, hits table, wine hits lappy, dog takes my legs from me, land on my butt and I spill water on lappy. Cat is sitting washing itself
Massive blue light with a ping and lappy is dead
Contacted "More Than" this morning at 8:30am. Collected my new laptop at 1pm this afternoon. The bloke laughed and said the claim would go into the crazy claims file.
I cannot believe how quick they sorted this. Cannot recommend them highly enough. Brilliant. Even though they made me feel like an ***

Lol! Claiming for flood-damaged synths. Wrecked studio. Talking roughly £8-9k including replaced damaged toys. :-( taking much longer to sort. Claims were put in on December 29th. Only just been allocated a loss adjuster. Room has just dried out. Now all has to be pulled down

Had a laptop issue a few years back - kids had been using it. Put it back in the bag without doing straps and zip up. I rushed to work next day and witnessed the 2001 slow-motion spin as my lappy rotated in it's descent towards the laminate floor. Then the screen smashed

If I am doing a contents policy, I always recommend extended accidental damage. Clients ask what that covers. I explain that it covers the stupid stuff when you break it yourself. I think I might tag your story to the key facts document

Would my daughter dropping my mobile in the water pot for the plant count? Or when my Labrador as a puppy ate my wife's week-old mobile phone

We've hardly ever claimed for anything! Only time I can recall was to do with the theft (total loss) of my first scoob.

I used to w*rk for a bloke years ago who claimed back three-quarters of his premium every year as a matter of principle.

My claim was a laptop too, only wasn't really 'stupid'

About a year and a half ago now I got up one morning(ish) and the other half had brought me a cup of tea up. Sitting on the bed with lappy, funnily enough on SN, and I felt a little funny, then wham....

Had a fit (seizure, for those who think I was just having a silly moment) and laptop had a cup of tea so to speak.

I didn't know about it straight away (until I came around), I think I was more bothered about that, than having the fit.

Anyhow, took a few days to speak to the relevant insurance peeps, and get the voucher through, but all in all it was quite painless. Since then, I pay a monthly insurance on the new one, so if I do have another accident, it avoids claiming on the home insurance.

We had a theft once, and that was the time when we claimed for our mobile phones. Our mobiles were expensive and unique-ish for that time. The insurance company asked if I would be happy with a different model, as my phone was not available in stores. They found my partner's phone model, and he was happy with that. I refused their replacement offer because my slide phone was the one that James Bond used in one of his films So insurance company sent me the money for my phone instead, and I traced a new Bond handset on internet to buy All was sorted within a month, I think. But then our premium went up. It used to go up in 2002 after a claim, anyway.

You're very lucky Lee (IMO)

I dealt with them when they were RSA and they were awful. Had a crash from behind, it should have been simple, but the amount of running around and letter writing I had to do was unbelievable!!!

Also had some savings investments with them, another big mistake! They were complete to$$ers IMO LOL!

Two years ago a guy came to work to pick up some kit.

While reversing he hit my car.

No witnesses, but we were pretty sure he did it due to timings.

I call & ask if I can pop round to look @ his car for any damages - he says yes - fine.

I go round - big streak up the side of his car where it's impacted - I take photos. He admits liability.

Later on, when I ask for £ to get my car fixed he decides to go through insurance (for £600).

He has told his insurance co it wasn't him.

The case is still not resolved.
