Is it just me or does anyone else think the olympic stadium looks totally bland ?

If thats the best we can come up with in terms of designing a stadium for a major world sporting event then we have probs, i don`t think you could make it much blander if you tried.

I was expecting an athletics version of The Bernabeu or similar, something that makes a statement about the Uk, it does that alright lol

The original plans for the stadium after the olympics were even more comical, thats before Spurs and West Ham showed any interest. You can`t blame Spurs for wanting to bulldoze the thing.

it looks reminiscent of the ancient greek stadia, quite apt for olympics really, although a bit of a design cop-out.

It's just a functional generic design.

Only time will tell.

The Beijing stadium otoh was ambitious and made a statement.

Seems to me that what actually matters is that it is possible to seat a large number of people and that it will be possible to run track and field events for all to see.

Will people be studying the appearance of the stadium when all that is going on?
