Reminds me of my childhood as I was a Technics making god Wanna get back into it and route out my Lego from upstairs for when my unborn son is old enough to appreciate it.

I bought a box of lego from a mate when i was a kid for £1.00.It had the castle and all sorts was well happy,was out in the garden playing with it for about an hour.Then my garden gate swings open and standing in front of me is my mate with his mom,He shouldn't of sold you that lego and i was made to give it back. ...

Technic came out just as I was getting too old for Lego Played with my younger cousins sets a bit, but can't wait for my boy to be old enough for stuff like that. I.... er.... he got a Scalextric this Christmas

So you bought it for yourself ,everytime i take my girls in toys r us i always look at the lego and technics ,love stuff like that but the girls walk straight to the dolls ,not even interested in scalextric .
Tempted to buy myself a nice big model airplane to build or a destroyer

Well I've been sat since about 6pm building the model and gave up for the night sbout 30 mins ago. 3 bloody instruction books for one model

I loved Lego as a kid and my five year said all he wanted for Christmas was Lego - and that is what he got! He is a pretty advanced in his taste - Power Miners being his favourite stuff.

The quality is just not the same, plus i had 8 single bricks left at the end that did not get used, nor were they even in the instructions.

My 5 yo lad got 4 boxes of StarWars and Ben10 Lego for Christmas.

I've already 'helped' him do 2 of them

I had a Lego C3P0 which was animated with an elastic band. The elastic went and it fell to bits. With no instructions I binned it.

Apparently they are now serious collectors items and easily fetch 3 figures! Grrr!

Aye got that one upstairs and remember building it. The thing was Technics was very brash back then and you needed imagination to get the image of what you were making would realy look like. It was definitely things like Lego that gave me my creative streak with my artwork as well as the fascination with building things.


Sssshhh, don't tell anyone but it was on sale at that place only 'chavs' shop at (according to some on here) - Argos


I can vividly remember as a 5-6 year old seeing the american rig Lego model and wanting it sooo bad. I did loads of jobs for my mum and family to save up. £40 was a lot to a young boy back in 1990 and I was so excited when it arrived I was on the 11+ models at about 7 years of age as thats all I played with when I wasn't drawing or riding my bike.

Ooooh, I remember crying my eyes ou when I found my then baby brother had ripped the instructions to shreds one morning not long after building that model

I paid £81 for that set 7 years ago. There aren't any on ebay new in box, but a few sets built for £60

I personally won't sell mine, one of those things I'm hoping to hand down if I ever have kids.

Back in my day Lego was just bricks
You did get lots of different sizes, like two blobs up to 8 blobs for bricks, and as many as ten blobs long for the thin bars.

You could build anything*



*as long as it looked like a house or a bridge. Given enough bricks the bridges were amazing. No fancy stuff mind you.

Funny you should post this up as ive been looking at getting a set of Technic again.

I got these back in 1988 when I was 8yrs old. Ive still got these built up in my mother and fathers loft back home lol.

I was looking at this one at Toys 'r' Us before I went and bought the model from Argos. It's £49.99 from £69.99 at Toys 'r' Us currently if it helps.

I just wanna buy more now as I enjoy building them
