Default Scrapping a car? How ??

The other halfs car is dying, and with her new one imminant, we need to get rid of the old one.

Can we just take it to the local car breakers and get some cash for it, or is it a case of hand it over and walk away?

the webuy anycar lot will give her £50 supposedly, but it means a 50 mile round trip if they say no lol

any ideas whats involved, and what to do

Just look through your local paper, call a few scrappies and see what they offer over the phone, once you get a decent offer they will come and collect it, give you some money, just make sure you get the log book sorted and send the bit off to inform the DVLA it's been scrapped once when I was scrapping a car my phone started ringing while the scrappy was collecting the car - turned out it was a potential buyer - had another two separate calls that afternoon from people after it - typical, it had been advertised for weeks at £250 with no interest, got £50 off the scrappy for it in the end!

if you can drive it into your local recycle center(scrappies) they will pay you x amount per tonne(the price changes daily)we took my mums old merc 190e down 3 weeks back and got £177.00 for it not bad to say she olny paid 300 for it a year back with 12 months t&t and it had nearly new 18inch alloys on which she sold for £200 !!!! so a years worth of driving and gained £77 profit!! p.s you just hand them the log book and they process it on computer straight away to tell the dvla its been scrapped

All done , Very quick and painless

Phoned the local recyclers, who offered me £100, I asked if that was the

price if the car was driven to them,, turns out that was the price

regardless of how it gets to them They said they would collect as well

(That was a bonus, no temporary cover for 30 mins required, so i could drive it over to them)

20 mins later, lorry turns up, pays me the cash, completes the paperwork,

car driven onto lorry, and away he went.

He even asked if there was anything i wanted off the car before it went

Goodbye old car

Mart
