Spec me a..............Oven!
Our new kitchen is due to arrive on the 5th Jan. As yet, we haven't decided which oven, hob and hood to get. The oven is a built under unit with double doors.
I can't stand using electric hobs - I just can't get to grips with them so prefer gas. The hob for sure is going to be gas but I don't know about the oven.
It seems there isn't many gas ovens around these days and its all electric. I've been looking at the Bosch range but our budget is £1000 for all 3 items.

Personally I've a neff ceramic hob , elica hood and a neff double oven.
I think you might struggle with 1K for all 3 if you want something decent.
I got mine at cost price from a customer of mine, and that was 1K alone.
The appliances you get "chucked in" are usually shyte to be honest.

We have bought the Kitchen from Homebase (Don't worry, if it all goes **** up I'll tell you all about it so you can all laugh ) and the prices on the appliances were very high compared to buying them seperately.
I was looking at Neff stuff just now actually. The 1K budget is moveable but don't want to go too far over.
Thinking:
Neff
Bosch
Rangemaster
Baumatic
Gas hob
Electric or Gas oven
Hood (but not an extraction one)

We've got a Rangemaster mate and it's great.
Has the two ovens, grill, 5 different sizes of gas hobs and the hotplate part.
Good for the kids when it's off as when the hob cover is down, the gas won't come on.
I imagine this feature is common...I'd never seen it before

Also just had a new kitchen.
If I had lots of money it would all be Miele, next level down (which we went for) is Bosch/Siemens/Neff - these appliances are all made by the same company just the packaging is different In the end we went for a Siemens IQ700 Large Single Oven, a Compact Oven / Microwave combi, with a plate warming drawer under that. Got a 90cm Bosch Gas hob (with double crown wok burner ), AEG extractor hood, and a Bosch integrated dishwasher. That lot came to nearly £4k
I would always go for electric ovens and a gas or induction hob. Gas hobs are probably best but if you don't have gas then induction is supposed to be almost as good. Bonus with induction is they're much easier to keep clean.
You say you want a hood that isn't an extraction one, why is that? The recirculating type are generally sh*te, much better to have something sucking the cooking smells and some of the heat to the outside.

The builder did say he could put the ducting in though so it is an option if we want. It would mean having to cut up the new cupboard carcasses though.
Fortunately (for my wallet anyway) we only have a small kitchen so the hob can only be a 60cm.
What we could do is get the hob and oven now and discuss the hood when the kitchen comes - although we are leaving it a bit late to get the stuff before the 5th!

Just remember that if you go for a induction hob, you have to buy the induction pans, as your normal pans don't work. Something to do with the way the material concentrates the direction of the heat.

The wife thinks he is awesome. He was on Australian Masterchef. We are hoping to go to the Fat Duck next Christmas if we can get the booking.
So if the Bosch/Siemens/Neff stuff is pretty much the same thing presumeably the Bosch will be cheaper. I know Neff stuff can be quite expensive.

I was all set for Bosch ovens until I figured out they didn't do a large oven that had pyrolytic cleaning to match the compact oven / microwave combi (that also has pyrolytic), Siemens did. Something to do with the height of the control panels, needs to line up when they are mounted next to each other

Cooking is cool now, I worship Heston Blumenthal
That said I would like to eat at The Fat Duck one day, health inspectors or not, worth the risk IMHO

I think its £150 each plus drinks. Obviously we wouldn't be dining there every night be as a treat for the pair of us next year I think its OK. Its getting the table in the first place that might be tricky.
Think we'll be going for Bosch. Just waiting for the wife to come home and we'll be off round the stores to see if theres any bosch stuff around.

Will have a look there now.
Found Neff and Bosch hobs but the pan support things were a bit thin - oven itself was nice though. Wife opened the door on one oven and the metal edging was so sharp it took a chunk out of her knuckle!

Had a look at them. Looked nice actually.
Wife likes the Gas on Glass hobs. However, these only come in black which means a black oven and black hood. Looks ok in the pics but our kitchen doors are white. Not sure if the contrast will be too much.
Ark at me, having an opinion about the kitchen!?

LOL
Having this kitchen has meant that I can't afford to put anything exciting in the garage anyway
Gone for the Neff stuff. Thats the good news, bad news is the kitchen is going to arrive way before the cooking equipment - oh....she will be pleased

A bit late to the party but I replaced the crappy Ariston single oven in my kitchen last xmas after it decided to die a few days before Xmas day.
Looked at quite a few and at Neff/Bosch/Siemens level they are so similarly specced its down to aesthetics. I went for Bosch and paid a bit more to get pyrolytic and well worth the money imho. 1hr every few months and inside of oven is like new other than the wire racks you have to wash manually. The mrs is always worrying what if it goes wrong whilst cleaning at 500c but I tell her thats what house ins is for
Only issue I have with the Bosch is how cheap the control dials (pop out) feel for a £750 appliance.
