Default Breaking news, Tesco roof collapses.

Here in Scunny, apparently, just picked ity up from another website, no details yet, fire engines racing down there about an hour ago, half the roof supposed to have gone.
Hope no-one is injured if it's true.

Nicked the photo from another website, but it's our Tesco alright, cheapest building they could put up, allowed by this "Martini" council: build what you want, any place, anywhere, any time.

It might be a 'cheap' building in your view but the structural integrity has nothing to do with Tesco.
They employ independant structural engineers to design their buildings and therefore i'm sure Tesco will be banging heads as we type. The engineers will now be going through the calcs to make sure snow loading was factored in.....if so, not enough!!!
Nik.

Sorry, what I was alluding to is the total cheap crap that are Tesco Supermarkets, compared to, say, Morrisons.

Tesco: plastic, glass steel, plastic roof, just a featureless box

Morrisons: Attractive brickwork, a clock tower WITH clock.

Tesco tossers!

I always pick a supermarket based on its quality of building, who cares about choice of food and deals

LOL you d*ck!

Of course no-one chooses a supermarket for it's building, but wouldn't it be nice if companies built their places to LOOK nice as well as do a job?

No reason to have one without the other?

It's all academic if they only give them a budget of thirty-five pee to build it with.

Couple more photos on there. I imagine its not the only building like that the architects will have designed - bet there'll be some head scratching and worried people about whether it could happen elsewhere!

Tell a lie, it has some extra supports for the roof overhang...which your Scunny one doesn't have.

It must have been built as a Tesco *finest store as opposed to the usual Tesco value.

Not necessarily. You only allow for a defined amount of snow, if that is exceeded then structural damage may occur.

Architects design stuff like fire escape routes, engineers do structural design.

Architects also dictate how the building should look, not structural engineers.
