Other blackspots include Birmingham and Blackburn.. hmmmm
They fail to mention Bradford which statistically has the highest level of insurance fraud commited, as well as the highest number of uninsured drivers!

Programme about scammers last night.
One chap Mohammed Patel was responsible for causing 90 accidents by 'slamming' - the average payout/costs of 17k per claim - you do the maths!
He and his girlfriend where living on income support - running a Merc slk and Lincoln Navigator + numerous expensive holidays a year
got 3 years for his trouble - seems a fair trade for him given the money involved and a likely time served of 20 months!
It apparently costs each and every motorist £40.00 on top of their 'normal' insurance costs - unless you live in one of the affected areas such as Bradistan (the role model for integration into British society) where you will find 25-50% increases for those who do actually do bother to insure their cars!
Perhaps loss of 5+ years of liberty with hard labour and deportation (for those eligible) would be a better deterrent, given the make up of those who are committing this crime.

One of these days were really have to set you free, point you in the direction of those "human rights" civil liberty types in Brussels, and lend you a machine gun.
Within a day common sense could be restored to the world. So much for crime does not pay!!

The blame for this lies with (Mostly lefty, apologist) career politicians and fast trackked Police chiefs and senior officers who are just 'yes' men and women who do not live in the same streets or have the same problems as the rest of us!

Of course they have to say what the next bloke up the ladder wants to hear and sod the country and the people in general! They are after their KCMG's of course! Just have to tick the targets!

my missus brother got done . driving along , mini two cars in front slams on the brakes, car in middle manages to stop , her brother doesnt rear ends the middle car which then hits the front car . the ocupants of the two cars fall out of the cars clucthing their necks and hobbling about (30 mph crash) .
strait road, no crossings ,well lit , the mini driver claimed a kid ran out in front of her there are no houses on this road just woods either side, 9pm(not really the place for kids to be hanging out ) , missus brother said there was no kids anywhere near the scence (and one never was found near the scene ). police obviously took the side of the two cars infront due to them play acting injury ( missus brother is 18 and not long passed his test so obviously a boy racer) gave him a right bollocking about driving to fast blah blah blah
they claimed for the damage 2x cars , loss of earnings , whiplash (basically took him to the cleaners)
turns out they claimed for a third passenger (there was no third passenger)and got money for him
the two partys acted like they didnt know each other from adam and it turns out they are the same family
in all they got 27k for this little stunt
her brother now has no car , cant afford the insurance and is generally put off driving all together
now i knew strait away what was going on but the police and insurers seemed to be oblivious to this blatent fraud .

As for the uninsured drivers.... well they have databases of who owns cars, who has taxed the cars, who has MOT'd the cars and who has insured the cars. It should mean that if there was willing the Police or some authority could do checks and visit those who look to not be covered to legally drive a motor vehicle. This would be a benefit to all us road users and improve driving and safety.
Will they do this? No! Why? Because it costs money and doesn't generate any. Anyway there's no issue for the Police because they just wait for the accidents and then when they happen check details then as it's easier to prosecute.
It really is a fukked up system and shows what is wrong with this country IMO.

While the above is unjust if he had been maintaining the correct distance from the car in front it would not have happened.

All I'm saying is in an ideal world you are correct but in reality due to our roads being so congested it's hard not to have to eat into those safety margins to allow the roads to cope. If you then throw in somebody who deliberately wants to cause a collision and you have a dangerous mix.

F1, seriously, drive around Bradford for a bit and report back! Any normal views on driving have to be ignored, it's properly every man for himself!
I know what you're saying and I agree but when you're driving around people who don't have any respect for themselves it's never gonna end well!

I do take your points on board, but I do also think some people's driving leaves them a sitting duck for these sort of scams.

Simple solution:
Mr Patel your insurance premium has gone up by £1000 this year due to a proportion of your fellow Pakistanis being cheated scumbags. Don't like it? Sort your people out!
Also, send in a huge operation to areas like Bradistan, Burnley, Oldham, Blackburn, Birmingham and Leicester and crush all the uninsured cars... Even if it is a Range Rover Sport.
The police should be constantly on these scumbags backs making it impossible for them to flaunt the law in their dirty rat ridden ghettos!!
And what about finger print recognition for benefits? Sorry Mohammed, only one alias for you now!
Its about time we put a stop to these B4stards taking liberties!!
Rant over!

I really cannot believe that anyone can second guess and avoid this, driving always involves a measure of trust in the driver in front to drive aware of the fact there are other vehicles behind, ok you leave a gap as much as is humanly possible but saying that it wont happen to you because you leave a gap is a bit simplistic, stuff pulls out from side roads, other lanes, its always changing.
That said I would be triple careful in areas mentioned earlier in the thread.
Time for a crackdown, no insurance, ever for anyone convicted, no licence either and a term in jail for good measure, seizure of assets, go to town on them.
The fingerprint idea was a good one as well.
