The Invention of Lying
A Ricky Gervais movie and a stinker - He works on the TV ,but he is a big miss on the big screen.

Ricky Gervais plays the same character in everything he does! Just like Sean Connery always has a Scottish accent whether he's playing an American, Russian or Welsh (not sure if he's ever played a Welsh person but you get what I mean)

I think he is clever and funny in general but wooden as a plank in movies. He seemed to have been shoehorned into the Night at the Museum films probably because he is well known in the States.

No, The Ghost Writer (aka "The Ghost") is without doubt the worst film of 2010.
Do not watch it. You will waste 120 minutes of your life. You could actually compress the film into 30mins (including adverts). In fact, I'll write it in two lines:
Writer writes boigraphy for former Blair-esq UK prime minster, who is rather unpopular in the middle east, he then gets assassinated. Turns out his missus was CIA and in on it. Ghost writer finds out, she kills him. End.
And the ****** on IMDB rated it 7.5....god I wish I could smoke whatever they were smoking when they watched it.

On TV I have always considered RG to be a complete C*** but recent cinema stuff has suprised me with his apparent ability to act, thought he was ok in Ghost Town also.

You think it would from that. Try stretching that to 2hours, get McGregor to totter round on a bicycle for bit, then a BMW whilst Pierce Brossnan pretends to be himself and Kim Cattrall tries to speak with a British accent (she can't). Bit more BMW, dab of Google. More BMW, some CIA smoke and mirrors for a bit of drama. a 5mph car chase...in a BMW. And after all that, there is still no plot progression until the last five minutes, Ewan has a eureka moment, tells the perpetrator, so she gets him killed, or ran over to be more precise (not in a BMW, shockingly).
Its almost like scooby doo crossed with a BMW advert...."damn it I would gave gotten away with it (in my BMW) if wasn't you pesky writers (driving a BMW)" Except she did get away with it.
