Default 12v inverter

Hi all does anyone know where i can get the above? (a shop)
must be 1500w or over & under £150
no fleebay links please as most are from china

What do you want to use it for Chris? Theyre extremely inefficient and suited more to 200w-300w applications than one kilowatt plus...

Remember too that 1,500ws of load will require a 3,000w inverter.

costco do one, I had one in my hand last time I went there, iirc it was about £39 incl vat

1500W output, even if it were 100% efficient, would still require over 100A @ 12V input... where are you going to get that sort of current from?

don't go cheap! i went through loads of invertors trying to find a good one to run my laptop from, something always seemed to blow inside them, ended up with a 300watt belkin but I took 4 previous different makes back for a refund from different places....

Im guessing that he needs to start an 800w device... Youd be better off buying a small generator.

It seems like more trouble/work, but youll need to connect the invertor directly to the battery and itll take all of the output of a very large alternator (battery too) to run it - all very, very far from practical.

Thanks for the repys guys
already got a 300w one thats in the van(mobile workshop)which runs the lights ,charger for the drill etc
wanting to power a drill 700w,hand grinder 600w,bench grinder 400w
& if poss a 110v transformer
a workmate has a 1500w(3000w start up)that powers everything even a
microwave oven (tried one for a laugh)
the place he got it has closed only paid £80 as well
a petrol/diesel gennys a no no because of cost/space
