Default T mobile release HTC Desire Froyo 2.2

Just heads up for HTC Desire owners on T mobile: They released the 2.2 froyo upgrade yesterday.

Mines much faster, WiFi signal is a lot stronger and a few other bits added such as WiFi hotspot.

The best phone on the market, just got even better

Vodafone should have had 2 updates about two weeks apart, have you had both?

screen rotate works better and quicker and you can rotate to either left or right,

gmail has got quite few minor updates.....I just wish they would make the gmail app available for the ipad as the email on the ipad is pants!

how long is your battery lasting on your voda? I am a heavy user and I get over a day with WiFi on all the time, make sure you don't have any rogue dodgy apps!

I got to admit I still prefer using email of all types inc gmail on the blackberry. It's not bad in here, but multiple account management is more effort than I like lol.
Glad I'm not the only one that thinks that.

Yes but my interface looks much prettier and I stroke my screen to make it do things, so ner! Even though it does keep changing words all over the place. Keep believing your laptop is superior, hater

My wife got one of these for work but on O2. Are updates carrier specific and do you lose all your settings?

Kerching! £££

Not much difference with the old desire and the new, so look out for some good deals on the standard desire it may be worth it ....

Will it be that expensive? Most phones are £50 or less on a £35/month contract aren't they?

the desire seemed to get slated for its battery life, I was hoping the new version may have improved on it

for great battery life buy one of these:

some one who works for me has one and he gets nearly a week out of one charge

all smart phones will have poor battery life when compared to the above, if you have your phone screen on full brightness and surf non stop allday, while listening to youtube, checking your email and playing games your battery will run down!

I am a heavy user and I can get a over a day from my desire with wifi on all the time, people who live/work in poor reception area seem to really suffer with battery life. GPS/ sat nav will kill the battery but I only use it in my car so i plug it in at the same time (my tomtom goes flat without being plugged in pretty quick aswell)

TopTip: Buy yourself a 1000ma belkin battery charger for £4.60 and leave it in your car you can charge your phone up fully in about 60 minutes from flat as its the same as plugging it in to the mains charger

Ballpark suggested cost of the phone sim free is £500ish.

Same IMO as going from an iPhone 3G to a 3GS. Small step big price tag.

Just checked...no new updates available and I`m currently running Android 2.2 Yeah I`ve got the rotate left or right now. My battery...ummm I`m already topping it up right now. I usually send 100 - 150 texts so I don`t suppose that helps

John. I just did a Google and it appears O2 released the froyo upgrade and pulled it again due to some issues. I doubt it will be long now before its re-released. Also it won't affect any settings.

Yes, I have a friend who claims that sites such as RedTube run much smoother now.

I updated my Pulse to 2.1, but the Desire is more responsive and has a better screen, although it is nothing like the iPhone 4 in terms of responsiveness and display. Maybe 2.2 will redress the responsiveness with the JIT compiler.

I think the issue lays with the fact it's a Moto lol.
Yup agreed HTC is the way. Sadly only the Z would be of interest to me.

Anyone want a hardly used DEXT for £60? Lol

True. I have the 3g/wifi switched off on my blackberry most of the time and the screen turned right down. Before I did that the battery life was shocking.

Any idea what the improvements the HD will have over the current Desire?

Desire and HD side by side.

I'm more interested in the Z, although only slightly

Thanks. So the Z is basically the HD with a Qwerty board?

Yup just about. Few differences.
But far more practical for me. I just don't like pure touch screens ( he says replying on an iPad lol )
If they come to the UK i might take a look at the Z

update mine about a week ago. vodafone balled up including their "my360" software as part of the update. I managed to get it off after a bit of help on here. does anyone have any problems connecting to their wifi router. sometimes my phone will just not connect to the router until i reboot the router. apart from that the phone has been great. love Paper Toss.

I've never had a problem. I have the router keys to my dads, daughters and bils and it connects as soon as they are in range. I have found since the froyo upgrade the signal is even stronger.
