I guess its the last 6 feet that would kill you if you slipt so the heights irrelevent

Why? - dead easy to work it out:

d = R * arccos(R/(R + h))

d = distance to horizon
R = radius of the Earth
h = height of eye

He is probably harnessed to the chap below him who is harnessed to the frame so should he slip he wont fall very far.

With H&S regulations, It's probably pretty safe.

Still, I wouldn't like to do that, but then again I wouldn't like to wade my way through shi*e in sewers either.
