Aw, my son starts school on Monday too, and my daughter in nursery!!!

A very sad day for me, and I'm preparing for all the 'lady of leisure' jokes already!

I'm gutted they are both going, they have been my world for the past 4+ years, and now I'm letting them go........

I'm response to the op, GIRLS RULE, AND BOYS DROOL!!!!

I don't fancy the chances of Prospers book bag being returned to owner if it gets lost, lol

Our eldest starts year 2 tomorrow, still remember her 1st day

You don't want to worry about their writing skills, it's the bullying they'll get from their names that's gonna be taking up most of your time

Prosper and Sorrel, seriously, wtf were you thinking? the first is going to get nicknamed spock before the end of week one and poor sorrel is going to get pelted with the stuff on a daily basis as soon as they find out what it is.

Hope you're happy having ruined your kids lives

I know! To want to be known as Astraboy must mean your real name is really bad
Then again, I thought your name set you out from the boring gits!

Regards,

John

Oh it does, but introductions do get tedious. They usually go like this:

Say your name,
Say your name again,
If they're really dense, say it again, *whilst holding onto temper*
Spell it for them,
Spell it for them again, but slowly,
Lose your rag, grab the pen and bit of paper that the missing link seems to be unable to write 6 letters on and write it for them,
Call them a ****wit,
Walk away, cursing your parents under your breath.

Repeat the above a couple hundred times a year and you'll understand.
astraboy.

I agree to an extent that a different name draws more attention maybe, but it doesn't always have to be negative.

Some people would love having an unusual name, others wouldn't.

Ripping someone because they named there child something that isn't your run of the mill James or Sarah isn't fair. Names like Tree and Snail are quite common now.

I do agree with the frustrations of spelling the name correctly, my daughters name is slightly 'different' but not too odd, yet I still have to do as you said above.

So let's see your name so we can mock you also....

I don't think I would have been as tactless as Astraboy, but, well, he does have a good point.

I hope it works out, I really do. I just know from my time at school any difference was picked on mercilessly. Some people managed to get away with stuff, I was not one of them...

I'm sure at some schools its the Waynes and Jordans that kids will rip the **** out of, yah!

Cool kids btw, but how come Prosper has a fleece that his eldest sister can still fit in? lol
