What's the best FM transmitter for an iPhone 4?
As above, I'd like to be able to play music stored on my iphone 4 in my car, what's the best fm transmitter available at the moment? Handsfree integration would be a welcome bonus
Cheers.
Cheers.

I use to do alot of driving and never had a 'decent' FM transmitter and i went through a few. I think you get much better sound quality and the option to charge the i-phone at the same time if you hard-wire it via the 3.5mm line-in or rca sockets on the rear of the head.
Something along these lines dock cable
and one of these ciggy adapt
Sorry if its not what you want just my opinion
edit: if you want a quality handsfree then look at Aliph Jawbone II or Jawbone Icon.

Thanks for the tip, at the risk of being dumb will all stereos have line-in or rca sockets?
I'm looking to put the kit in my 2001 Rover 45 chariot! I've nor got radio keys to check the back of the stereo out at the moment but suspect if they are remotely optional it won't have them!!

As for new head units etc, I'm reluctant to throw a load of money at the car as the stereo wouldnend up being worth more than the car!

Im pretty sure you can get something with a socket-in like this for 30 quid , is the car that bad
, Or you could take it with you when you scrap her.
Otherwise im afriad your jus going to have a stump up for a decent phone , with a transmitter - even base models have this facilty for a while now !

If your existing head-unit hasn't got aux-in sockets at the back (or front), you're probably better off getting one of these than a transmitter, as it'll be far more reliable. Not counting getting behind the dash on your Rover, it shouldn't take more than half an hour to fit if you're competent with electricals.
All you'll need then is a 3.5mm jack to twin RCA phono lead to plug into the headphone socket of your ipod, and a cigar-socket powered charger to keep iPod battery topped-up.

I have used one of these for the past 2 years without an issue.

Obviously its only 2gb and you have to copy your music onto it, but it has worked amazingly well to be honest, so much so that i ended up buying another one for the missus`s car.
My brother has had his car around 4 car lengths away and still picked up mine.
Its tiny, its hidden away in the ashtray, and never touch the thing to be honest, i just fill it up with albums and let it cycle through them one at a time, i dont even think i have the remote in the car anymore
One "flaw" with these though is that while they remember what song you were playing when you turn off the power, they dont remember at which point you were at when the power was dropped. So when you power them back up, whatever song you were playing, starts from the beginning.
Its not that big a deal if you do not listen to 1hour plus DJ mixes or such, for them, i use the AUX in on the stereo and hook the phone up

It is also hampered if the car has a rubber flexible aerial. When on the motorway it contantly flexes in the wind and that affects the signal very slightly creating a rapid "beat" noise. Annoying as hell. Cars with a diversity radio reciever seem to be even worse (just as well a Rover won't have a diversity system ).
There are two ways round this: Bin the radio for an aftermarket jobbie. Or, try and get hold of an interface kit. Some can make use of the CD changer input, which most OEM car radios have.
Just like this: http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/conne...ce-p-8744.html
You can actually make them yourself, but you need to find the correct pins on the cd changer interface connector.

I've got proper connects2 adapter in my car hooked into my Seat Aura Headunit, means I can control from the HU, which I use ALOT.
Worked a treat with my Gen 1 iPod Touch. Apple have changed the iPhone4 though so it no longer incorporates the 2 ways of charging they used to (car adapter manu's obviously used the circuit which can be powered by 12v as its easiest - Firewire?, the other is 5.5v I think - USB?). Interestingly people report this device might work:

Anyone know if it does?
