We always get stuffed in the U.K with every thing CARS,PETROL,ALCOHOL,****,CLOTHING The list goes on

I have just watched LOTR, Oceans 11 ans Blackhawk Down on R1 DVD, i believe they came from Malasia. Picture Quality superb, sound good, some ''autogain' durin the quiet sections. I understand that they cost around £ 2-4 in Malasia.
Anyone know if/where i can buy them (securely) on the net from Malasia or such like???
Paul.

Ive watched a few from Thailand and the quality is different with each one so its hit and miss.

Firgive imy ignorance of the legal issues here, so will it be ilegal to purchase said DVDs from another country then?
If this is ilegal or out of order then i would exopect it to be locked.
P1 Fan it iis not a case of Us and Them so don't try to make it one. It is a genuine question.

i think you'll find its illegal to copy and to sell them paul, the actual ownership is a bit of a grey area.
Techinically there are (from what ive read) lots of copyright issues surrounding dvds, hence the different release dates/content etc for different regions, and the ownership of something thats not intended to be released in this country could be illegal.........not sure, bit of an iffy one.
Seem to remember a judge setting a precedent a few months ago that it could be deemed illegal to purchase dvd's not for region 2.
Cant remember it all now.

I went to Malaysia last october on holiday, whilst in Kuala Lumpur for a few nights I bought *ahem* a few CD's & DVD's.
The quality was very variable - I bought:-
The Fast & The Furious
American Pie
American Pie 2
******
Blair Witch Project
Swordfish
Hardball
One I can't remember name of!
****** was the best one - probably cause it had been released on pukka DVD - so it was a straight disc copy
Swordfish was poor, and censored - no Halle Berry's ****!!!!
Fast & Furious was OK - but towards the end a guy with a baseball cap, bucket of coke & box of popcorn walks across the screen and sits down - I kid you not
American Pie was average quality
Hardball VERY poor
Blair Witch not watched yet
American Pie 2 not watched yet
One I can't remeber name of was the worst - the picture was about 30 deg off horizontal VVV poor picture, malay subtitles by default!
SO basically it was not money well spent - but they were only £2 each
I have since bought some of these on pukka DVD on my return - so a try before you buy scheme.! Remember though most of these films wer either just out in UK or not out yet - so they were all brand spankers - most were recorded by video camera propped between seats it would seem - and dont even mention 5.1DD
Its up to you......maybe your source is better than the markets in KL but it's a risk.
