Default Selling the Scoob...

Ok, as horrible as the thought is, I NEED to sell my scoob. It's not up for sale yet, as I need it for travel over the school hols.

Three trips to school come September is just not going to be sensible, or good for the car as it's only a 10 min drive. On those frosty mornings the car barely warms up on the way there.

SO.... where do I go from here?

I really like VAG and I loved my bora, but I can look at something smaller now.

I'm thinking of a Skoda Fabia Vrs as I will still get a teeny bit of grunt (lol), but I'm happy to have my mind broadened.

Fabia VRS plus remap equals a bit of fun.

Yes, if I'm lucky enough to get one for what the scoob would go for, I would be a happy lady.

Not really needing it mapped for the school run though.

I had considered that, but I would need one of those trailers for the children.
The in laws don't think the roads are safe enough.

Even though it's a 10 min drive it would be a 40 min bike ride, when I have to drag them out of bed at 7.00 already, any earlier would just be cruel.

I can recommend a BMW Mini. It is a very well made car and is very reliable. It is also fun to drive and comfortable for long distances. They hold their value very well and thats for a good reason.

Scoob Diesel impreza? Might be a bit bigger than the VRs, but there is also a rumour of an STiD.

prodrive suspension and quick shift gearbox

Got an extra ecu also as we planned in a bigger turbo and a re map, but as the car is totally standard I didn't want to do anything to it.

I'll be honest the only money it needs throwing at it is for the dents.
Sadly there are loads, but if we can't sell it as it is, we are simply going to declair it off road and I will get a little run around.

Can't think of anything else to add.

I would offer up the Fabia vRS too, pop over to briskoda.com and take a look at the forum reviews etc to see what you can do to it.

Scoob is OK for that travelling.

Fabia vRS with the 1.4 Petrol is a wise choice.

Avoid all diesels which have a DPF - it will be killed with lots of small journeys (and it's damned expensive!).

The Civic Diesel is not cursed with a DPF

It's the nature of the car though. Their engines don't like short short trips...
I wouldn't mind driving a little oil burner run around for 4 years doing that distance.
However doing that to my beloved scoob would be stupid.

Tell me about it!

Depends how you drive it, the Cooper allows enough scope.

I know what you mean, Mr P would love me to have one, and my friend said that if I had the deisel that he would sort out some sporty extras to 'pimp it up', lol!!

I just can't see myself in one. BUT I have never actually seen a good example.
My did in law has a friend and she has the basic mini and I just don't like it.

Better off with a an eco petrol / diesel!

A truely annoying car - Uncomfortable, seat doesnt properly adjust, stupid shape stearing wheel, handbreak where the clutch should be, poor NW and NE visibility due to massive pillars, poor rear view, beeps constantly when in reverse, completely over the top traction control - just cuts all power completely which is not fun when your pulling out on to a busy A road, goes like a boat round corners, slow, noisey under any acceleration, crap radio, centre console that glares at night and to top it off,

Poor fuel consumption when driving above 15mph!

If you take a Cooper out on a wet day and fill your boots round the corners you would soon be converted! I would not touch a standard one either.
