How much is your local Cinema?
Im tight anyway so have a spare Orange PAYG sim just for Orange Weds. However Im sure that every other time I go to the Cinema the price goes up. If it wasnt for Orange I probably wouldnt go.
Showcase Cinema Winnersh nr Reading: 1 adult ticket = £7.55, if you want to watch a 3D film thats £10.55
And dont get me started on £4.50 for a bucket of popcorn

The missus recently went to watch Shrek 3 (i think?!) and was complaining that it was a tenner for a ticket
Prefer to wait and buy the DVD to be honest.

The only time i ever rent a film is if it is on Xbox Live to be honest, if the film looks that great, then i have no problem going out and buying the DVD, if its any good then i get to watch it again, for free, result!
If its crap then bin it or flog it.
By the time that a film is ready for DVD release, you kinda already know if its worth buying or not anyway, like Avatar, that i watched for the first time ever a month or so back when it came out on DVD.
Worthy purchase.

Makes me laugh the adverts against piracy before the film. When your pricing the average family out with a night at the cinema costing £30+ then what do you expect?

I was thinking this last night.
I also only go on Wednesday for the orange offer. Sat there last night and had to endure at least...AT LEAST 30 different adverts and numerous cinema idents before the film started.
This was after I ran the gauntlet of cinema staff wanting to check peoples bags to make sure we weren't bringing our own sweets in WTF

People will always download though, they did it when films were a lot cheaper.
I know of a few clampits that watched Avatar as some hooky download, filmed from a camcorder, WHY?!?
It was about 8quid in Asda, it was worth it, it has already been watched more than once, and my sofa is a lot nicer than some gonk-chair in a battery farm

Somethings arent badly priced like the big bags of m&ms, maltesers are £2.75 so only a quid more than tesco. But £4.50 for popcorn that costs them probably less than 10p is a **** take too far.

Our local Cinema is £7 for adults or £5 if you have one of thier Membership cards.
Memebership is £7.50 a year and you get 10% off Popcorn/sweets and drinks, 10% off in the bar above or restaurant above.
All that and you can take your beer into the Cinema with you while you watch a film!!!!

When I was in Belfast last month, I think I paid £2 to watch Prince of Persia on one of those cheap days. Cant remember what day though, something like a Wednesday or Thursday.
My hometown doesnt have a local cinema anymore, when it was open it took the latest blockbuster 3 months to get shown at £6 a ticket. Nearest now is 70 miles away, which is a complete rip off.

we only go to the imax, which is over £20 for 2 tickets.
my home cinema trounces normal cinemas and I have a popcorn maker now
unless it's an avatar level 3D film to watch at IMAX, we stay at home with a bluray

£5.75 (+Orange) for the bargain matinee at our local, £6.30 after 6pm. NEVER buy their popcorn/drinks, but do sometimes smuggle in some 96p Sainsbury's Value stuff
Big film we go to Imax at £9 (no Orange ) and smuggle in food.
Agree, if it weren't for Orange we wouldn't go.

Quite.
My last film I saw on the big screen was Avatar. It costs about the same in my semi-urban catchment area. Daylight stealing, I know. I do like the big screen. So, I limit myself to the ones that are worthwatching in the picture hall e.g. Avatar. I am happy to watch my arty-farty tear-jerkers on my plasma e.g. La Vie En Rose.

I think we pay about £12.50-£15 per ticket at our Odeon for premiere seats (ie pre bookable seats and more comfy).
It is expensive but then you have to remember what the overheads are of running a place like that. I'll only go to a cinema if it has state of the art sound, if not I'd rather watch it on my home cinema system. Even then I'll only watch the very big films at the pictures ie Inception will be the next one because I know Christopher Nolan is probably the best cinematographer of our generation
