Jumping in the deep end..........
Just looking for some advice...............
My Mrs' constant nagging, tit twisting and ear chewing has finally worn me down (after 3 years) like a pebble eroded by the sea and so the time has come to make an honest woman out of her.
First of all, I am crap with the whole 'romance' thing and stumped for original ideas on marriage proposals so any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated!
Secondly, has anyone used or know of a good place/internet site for engagement rings? The internet seems on the whole to be cheaper but I don't want to get mugged off with some worthless tat for my hard earned dollar. Can anyone recommend any jewellers they have used/heard of?
Cheers fella's and apologies for the soppy thread

I assume you mean a civil partnership given you are both males?
It is quite sweet the way you refer to him as a she!
Here is some idea of how the wedding pics might look
(s)he's a real keeper!
Lets hope your mum can keep up the hormone replacement and the weight off, she's lookin' good! How is she getting on retraining in the construction trade?
Good luck to you both and may the lube be with you! (at least in arms reach)
Really, good luck to you a nd as for ideas, it does depend how much you wish to put yourself out or make a fool (in a nice way) of yourself. have a look here, i like the treasure hunt idea http://www.ehow.co.uk/list_6460161_o...sal-ideas.html

congratulations m8 - brave move!
We had our rings made here:
http://www.caanthomas.com/
He's a very nice bloke who will do something for your budget. All the local jewellers round our way get their bespoke work done through him.
If you are thinking of Platinum - have a look at piladium - 1/4 the cost, same properties.

Get a ring from QVC when their selling the Diamonte collection, same as diamonds but cheaper and you won't be able to tell the difference straight away. When you're both at home slobbed out on the sofa in front of the box watching Big Brother, X-Factor etc, and find that you have nothing to talk about, pop the question then. Forget fancy meals and weekend aways, there too expensive and a waste of time, especially when she says "No!"

Me and my missus have been going for just over 4 years now, she's matured into devious little fox in that time! I've gave her the excuse I don't want to get married till I'm 30, so i've got another 5 years of semi-sanity.

My GF started twisting on about getting engaged between 6-12 months after going out. It ws starting to be a pain, so I had to sit her down and tell her this:-
I'm never getting married............... ever
I'm never want my own child........... ever
If you can't accept that, then lets say goodbye now.
She cried a bit, argued a lot, but has come to accept it now.

Take her to paris for the weekend, go out for a nice meal, see some romantic sites... but say nothing!
She will be thinking you will ask any moment now, but dont.
Then when you get home and turn the key on the front door mention about getting married

took mine to Blenheim Palace as a surprise. -- proposed amongst the snow and snow drops on feb 14th. had a few nights in the feathers hotel in the village. had champagne and red roses laid on for her etc. nice 5 course meal on the evening. (that was dear !)
I used ACE jewellers in Leeds for the engagement ring. prob saved me a good £1000. maybe more. all depends on yr budget of course.
its not worth getting in debt for.
don't forget it means less to us as men, but to women, its one hell of a deal. showing the ring off etc. (awaits puns)
avoid goldsmiths and all the usual high street stuff.

9 years for us before I proposed.
We were at a hotel on a weekend away and I told her I had arranged a day out and a taxi was coming to get us.
So we sat there looking into the hotel car park... my mobile rings "great thats the "taxi" driver he will be 2 minutes" says I. ...
2 mins later... thud thud thud thud.... helicopter lands in the car park she looks at me and says I am not getting in that! LMAO... she did...
I wont tell you where we went or what we did because I like to keep that between us and the pilot but it was a great day.
We got married the best part of 4 years later, just me and her (and a minister) on a beach in the Caribbean.
