Should I stay out of it (bit of a scam)
I know someone who has a website and emails people who are selling their houses and they pay him (not a lot money) to advertise their property on.
Now, he contacted me about selling ours and to advertise on his site and said he had a list of over 100,000 people looking to buy (bollox), I told him i wasnt interested but the site was our of alignment in areas.
He contacted me a couple of months later and asked to help make the site more user friendly for those to place their ads so I did, took me a few hours and he said it was a lot better. The money came up and he wanted me to be a 'partner' instead of payment so we exchanged emails for a bit and in this time I altered a few things to make it better, must point out im not a web designer but more of a developer. Anyway, I told hime what needed to be done to help promote the site and in the end he wanted me to give him cash so sacked it, still no payment for me either, 7 months on.
Whileall this was ongoing I took a look at his stats, he doesnt plug the site at all, its not listed anywhere just plugged on a few forums mainly to get others in to advertise.
All incoming visitors (ok, 95%) are those with ads on there already.
Apart from the fact I didnt get anything off him and I have since undone what I did I dont agree with his methods, there are lots of other sites doing the same but they are attempting to get seen, this chap doesnt do anything other than reel people in to advertise.
I still have access to the site and could just turn it off but this doesnt help those who have paid
Should I keep my nose out?
