Anyone know anything about Split A/C's for home use?

Iv seen e.g some Mitsubishi & LG Single Split A/C's for approx £370 upwards. The inverter ones are too expensive & the Multi split are also pricey & as I only need 2 units it works out cheaper to get two single units.

-Anyone recommend & good place to get them for a good price
-Which makes & models are good
-Can you fit them yourself

We put a couple of Toshiba Inverters in an old couples house and then were superb. We went back a couple of days later as a courtesy call and the pair were sitting there basking in 30c I think they'll only ever use it for the Heating side of things.
