Default HELP!!

A question for any parent of an 11 year old girl.Would you give her a very short hair cut to try and get rid of nits? We've tried everything and they won't go away.Bear in mind she has always had very long hair and when i say short i mean at least a no.4.Any help or opinions much appreciated, thanks in advance

Nooooooo, don't cut her hair just yet.
Watch Embarrassing Bodies tonight, apparently there is a child on with serious nits. Might give you some ideas before you chop her locks

Hope there is something on there to help you.
The problem with nits is, you will probably get rid of them, but if any kids in the school still have them, they will just keep coming back.
Might be best to inform the school so they can do a check, obviously on the quiet, so she doesn't get upset about it. Does the nit nurse not do the rounds anymore

No,no nit nurse anymore and yeah, your right about them coming back once you've got rid of them.Thats why i thought shaving her head might help. But we'll watch that programme later and take it from there.

It will be all the other kids in school whose parents don't have a clue or just don't care.

Yeah we had this with both kids - I even got some once! Don't cut her hair. I think you will just have to persevere. Do you use a nit comb? They can help.

I'd moan to the parent governor at the school as it's really a school problem to try and sort out but nigh on impossible unless parents check on kids before they go to school. The school should have sent a note to parents offering advice.

Happy combing!

They used to virtually shave the hair off from children with nits when I was at school. Don't think it did much good though.
