going to south africa for the world cup and was looking how much it will cost to use internet etc on my phone (currently on vodafone contract ) but have looked at there prices and they seem pretty steep for daily use . so does anyone know of a cheaper payg sim that i can use whilst over there . basically to check mail,browse the net, text back here .and local calls.

Intresting , i was looking into a voda contract because you seem to be able to pay 75p for each caller and then use your minutes whilst abroad
Was wondering if you could use your internet allownace as well but i guess not .

Gf now uses 'lyca' sim to call relatives/friends in Zim and SA , its very reasonable mob to mob , what its like calling here from there i dont know was hoping to find out witha trip there in June also but we dont have the funds yet

Local pay as you go sims are very cheap, I put £20 on mine - if I recall correctly - and used it for a lot of Data on my iPhone and calls between our party during two weeks. If I can find it I'll let you know the make, the first hotel we stayed at arranged it in advance or our arrival. You can top them up pretty much everywhere.

vodafone 75p deal is only in countries where they have a vodafone network ie europe, it's called vodafone passport just check that any country you go to is included as i've made that mistake big time in the past.
