East Lake Toho

If you need accommodation - let me know
I have a luxury villa near East Lake Toho. If you fancy sea fishing for barracuda etc - that's a 60 min drive away.

I am staying in a friends house at the north end of Lake Toho.

There seem to be so many lakes in the area - I am guessing it is all bass fishing?

Probably spend a couple of days on the coast as well.

I imagine that you will find bass fishing in one of the lakes, I have spent some time out there but never did get the chance to go fishing.

Not only do you have to watch out for alligators but Cottonmouth Moccasins like doing a bit of swimming so beware. They also like to lie on tree branches so remember that if you are tempted to do a bit of scrumping for oranges or tangerines!

Far deadlier.

Trout

If you go - please take Carl Hiaasen's book "Double Whammy"

A wacky tale of murder and mayhem at a big-stakes Florida bass tournament delightfully exposes corruption among the rod-and-reel set.

(unless you have read it of course)

If you didn't know Carl Hiaasen writes some quite amusing crime fiction books about Florida

I had 15 bass in 3 hours - four of them were over 5lbs. I also caught three gars (ugly with super dangerous teeth) and hooked some mudfish (look like ling but in freshwater) but they let go of the bait when they get near the boat.

Did a spot of sea fishing in Cancun, Mexico a couple of weeks ago. Caught some nice big Barracuda, will post some pics when I get them sorted.

Mifo - Lake Toho is amazing - full of fish but you really need a guide/boat. If you do come down I will give you the name of my guide.

Leslie - we are staying really close to the Kissimmee Airport - there is a Warbird museum there now - right up your street.

And the fishing here is incredible - even after all the development the place is teeming with fish. We went to Walmart and there was a tiny pool in the car park. I cast out a small plug and second cast hooked a largemouth bass of around a pound. Had another of two pounds shortly afterwards.

The big lakes need boats but have masses of bass, huge catfish, big double figure mudfish...

...too many to name!
