Yes it's a scam. You'll never see the money - even if they seem to pay it to you, it will be charged back or they will use a stolen credit card or hacked paypal account. They're offering you £250 to get you interested. Avoid.

Yep. Definite scam.
Lagos is the capital of Nigeria, the home of scamming.

There are a couple of points in the mail that should raise red flags:
1. Asking you to send the ebay item number. They obviously send the email to thousands of people advertising on ebay so can't keep track of who they mailed.
2. The email address has slashes in it. Why do that when emailing private people? You would only do that when posting to places that may end up somewhere public.

What made you possibly think it was not a scam ??!!

have some fun with them back, email them back and tell them its a deal, tell them you are comming that way on holiday next month and will upon a deposit put into a fake paypal address * pulling @your-leg.com " you will bring the phone with you !!!

they will try everything so just be careful and obviously dont give any personal details at all.

would personally think twice about ever advertising a phone on ebay again, have had two off these scam attempt email in the past and personally know off another three friends who all had them when advertsing a mobile on ebay.

best bet is forgett ebay advertise your phone on one off the many forums and if a decent price then it will sell and you will save a shed load not having to pay stupid ebay / paypal charges on top.
