Before I part with the money, for under £400 can anyone recommend a decent allrounder? For taking mostly still shots, with a few sporting pictures.

Moving to non Scooby. I think there was a digital camera question like yours last week, so hopefully you'll get a good answer there.

Try a Minolta S304. These are about 350£. There have been many good posts about this camera. Look at the quality of the lens, its great.

With Luke on this one - I have a Minolta S304 and Nothing, I mean NOTHING comes close for under £400 4x Optical Zoom on the best quality lens in the market, simple

It knocks the Cannon G2 into touch IMHO - its nicer to hold, much cheaper and, believe me, you dont need more than 3.3 Million Pixels!!

Thumbs up

I'm pretty pleased with my Canon Ixus v (v for video).

I chose the Ixus over any other due to its small size and relatively cheap price.

Have a look at www.dpreview.com it is without doubt the best digital camera site on the net!

I know it's £100 over your budget, but my dad bought me a Pentax Optio 330 back from Hong Kong. IMHO it's the nuts.

Image quality is amazing.

Hello

The Fuji 6800z is probably one of the best for that price.

It's about £412 from http://www.ny-camera.net or £425 from www.nomatica.co.uk.

I've got a Mintola S304 (350.00). Mate has a Nikon Coolpix 775 (320.00). Another mate has a Fuji 2600(300.00). The Mintola and Nikon produce similar quality. The Fuji is not quite as good, but still excellent. The bonus about the Nikon is that they have a package with a spare battery and 64Mb card for 40 quid.

don't **** around. Best digital camera on market when I bought was Fujifilm Finepix 4700 - takes ordinary AA batteries (rechargeable included) so no problems getting juice. Takes top quality still AND will also take short video clips. it's the DB's
