Testing Laser Detectors?

My Father bought a Snooper SD715 a couple of years ago...ran it and it seemed to work fine. He recently moved upto the north of Scotland where there isn't much in the way of speed cameras etc, so it got left in the house.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, he gave it to me. I have plugged it in, driven about and not a sausage. It switches on, beeps a few times and flashes it's lights, but then nothing! It used to go off when you went past traffic lights with the sensors, and now nowt... So something isn't quite right.
I have tried emailing Snooper in the UK, to see if they can repair it, but never got an answer back. So really the question is, how do I test it to see if it is duff? And where could I get it repaired if it is duff?
Ta.

Get as many remote controls as you can, turn the ignition on in the car and then point the RC at the unit. Press all the buttons on the RC until it goes off.
Failing that Steve Warren on UK speedtraps does a testing service, costs about 60 quid, I think.

Hi Neil, thanks for the advice, I will go and try it immediately!
Also, do you have a website for the Speedtraps place?
Thanks,
Jim
Edited to say just been to the car with every remote control device in the house and it didn't pick up a thing!! Not much cop! I have just been chatting to my next door neighbour, who happens to be a Policeman. I mentioned that it wasn't working, so he said next time he gets chance he will bring home the office Radar Gun so we can test further. Now thats what I call community policing!!!
