Default Asthma and chesty cough - recommendations?

Don't really wanna go to the docs as I have a cold at worst. But due to having asthma, the customery chesty, tickly, dry cough has surfaced. It's fookin' hell to cough as it comes very sharp on my chest, closes my windpipe and blocks my nose so breathing becomes difficult.

Any recommendations to get from the chemists or "home brew" methods?

Currently supping 2x what I should of Covonia as it won't **** off.

Asthma is controlled with inhalers if that helps.

Hot vodka with lemon or just lemon tea.

Get drunk enough to pass out. Repeat until you wake up and the cough is gone. Or your liver fails. Or the hangover is bad enough to distract you from the cough...

... on second thoughts, no I have no recommendations

i have asthma and when i get a chesty cough am afraid no cough mixture works!! it always goes on to be a chest infection, so antibiotics is the only option!! go to your docs if you have had the cough for longer than a week.
hope you get sorted soon!!

2 days so far. Phlegm ranges from thick green to yellow. Sometimes with a little blood in it which isn't unknown.

Thank god I don't smoke.

Strepsils work well and are easy to take. We don't like the "Cool" ones very much, the "Honey and Lemon" are good though.

defo go the docs!! and get some antibiotics before it goes any worse, phlegm is a sign of infection and blood is probably to do with heavy coughing and straining yourself. GO THE DOCTORS!!

By the looks of it, the cough is getting better. I managed to get a nights sleep last night (sat up not lied down) without waking till about 7.15 this morning.

Its not too sharp to cough now and I'm bringing a lot of phlegm up. A really thick greeny stuff which is more tickly than painful. Shoul;d be ok to go do a days work tomorrow after my holidays finish (I get full sick pay but I'm a trooper see so will infect all the " 'ard " 16 year olds at work and start a pandemic)

As already said, green/yellow phelgm is a sign of infection.
An expectorant like Benylin chesty/Covonia for chesty coughs will help break up phlegm and help you cough it up.

Check which Covonia you have, you shouldnt be using the one with dextromethorphan in it.
