cost of gas and elec for your home
why is my mates bill £130 a month for each, when he went on uswitch, it was only £80 a year cheaper??
his house is a bit bigger than mine, but why is it so different
he has two kids and i do, he has enegy saving bulbs,
does he pay broadly the same price for electricity or is it done on rates

Only water is done on a rateable value, and that assumes you do not have a water meter.
Gas and electric you pay for what you use. The rates he gets from uSwitch should be the same as the ones you get. They may be different if he pays different, ie you pay by the cheapest means of direct debit and he uses a pre-paid key. Other than that, he just uses a lot

I pay about £70 a month for gas and about £50 a month for electric.
House has solid walls so most heat goes out of that, and have a crap central heating system.
Have loft insualtion, thats it and double glazed windows.

I have been paying £100 a month for duel fuel with Scottish power and this was a price fixed from 18 months ago when bills went down but earlier this week Npower knocked the door. The have told me that according to my usage, they looked at my old bills, i will only be paying £47 a month for duel fuel. Less than half what i have been paying

I'd tell him to check next doors garage for a cannabis farm setup! I have two kids, lots of energy saver lights/LED setups, dumped the 10.8Kw shower & run direct off the combi boiler, and mine are down to £45/month electric and £32/month gas. The Mrs is in most days too, so the house is occupied daily.

I seem to be paying £650 a month to BG....
If the ******* could sort a simple problem out in less than eighteen months I'd not have a collection of a dozen, court threats/dis-connection notices...
I'm off to EON, god help me !
Actually pay around £43 a month for gas, but this month I'm £300 in credit and it's mid-winter
The electricity is a court matter, I'm sick to death, will let it go through and claim for wasted time at the court itself, ****'um....
Can you tell I'm fed-up ?
dunx
P.S. When I moved in they waited a year to bill me anything, I paid, and they lost the money into their black-hole accounting system for another year....

Perhaps he has a new metric meter but theyre still billing him in imperial? Apparently this is quite common and because the meter readings will always tally: householders are at a loss to explain the excessive cost.

my father in law reckons his gas bill is just under £500 a quarter as well
we are gettin him on the old uswitch at weekend.
mil law is poorly and on TPN most nights but even so being at home all the time it shouldnt
him and mil are both at home all day and the heating is on alot of the day,
the water meter is next for hm that should save him a few quid

was originally paying £20 every 2 days when i first moved into my new house on key meter bloody things and £10 every 3 days electric until i phoned them up and had a whinge soon changed to £10 each a week even with the heating all all day cos of new baby. its daylight robbery considering the actual price of gas is lower now than before the war but we're still paying the same after the massive rise. makes me sick

I'm paying £115 pm from Npower for both. 4-bed detached, but rented so no real insulation, crap central heating and I'm about £75 in credit after my winter bill

Our last quarter came through the door last week....
£199 for gas
£167 for leccy...
Were with atlantic....
The prices seem to have gone up by 20% from this time last year, but we did have the coldest winter for some years,so i guess that accounts for some of the rise.
