Default Anyone here into HiFi? If So... Show Us Your HiFi...

Hi Guys,
The number of members on here dictates there must be a reasonable number of you into Home HiFi or AV? I am just getting back into it after a 10 year break called a Wife, so lets see your setups!

Mine is all Cyrus:
CD8x with PSX-R
Pre-VS2 preamp with PSX-R
Bi-amped with 2 x Smartpower amps.
It is on a dedicated Cyrus wooden rack and feeds a pair of bi-wired Cyrus CLS7 speakers on their own "Tripod" stands, each filled with 20kg of silver sand. They take a LOT of lifting if they get moved

All cables are upgraded with the speaker wires being QED Silver Anniversary Bi-wire.

I wish it got more use, it's in the same room as the TV........
I sometimes toy with the idea of e-baying the whole lot and getting a little Technics system for the dining room.

Marantz CD5000 and Marantz PM4200, CD routed through Beresford DAC (makes all the difference!), into Kef Q35s. Also, sat on top of my rack, in pride of place is my Rega Planar 2 deck with acrylic platter, upgraded counterweight and DENON DL-110 cartridge.

Cheap as setup, but sounds very tight, speaker position is imperative. About 15 deg toe in.

Yes I went for the "level tops" and I wasn't 100% sure what AV rack I was going to use so kept it high...

When it gets upgraded to a 5"0 or 60" I'll lower it and the center speaker a tad

My final home system is decided upon and almost all installed.
The system is as follows:

2 Channel Audio.
CD Player: Cyrus CD 8 SE
Amplifier: Cyrus 8 XPD
Power Supply: Cyrus PSX - R
Mains Filtration: Takima Mains & RF Filter
Loudspeakers: Monitor Audio Silver RX-8
Loudspeaker Cable: Chord Company Rumour 2. Directional Cable. Bi Wired.
Interconnect: Chord Company Chorus 2 RCA's.
Terminations: IXOS banana Plugs in 4mm. Cyrus own brand at amp.

Audio Visual System:
BlueRay Player: Sony Playstation 3.
Satelite: SKY HD
AV Amplifier: Pioneer 919AH
Mains Filtration: Takima Mains & RF Filter
Loudspeakers: KEF 3005 SE 5.1 System with 250 Active 10" Subwoofers.
Loudspeaker Cable: IXOS 223 cable.
Interconnect: HDMI From PS3. Optical from SKY HD.
Television: Panasonic TX-P42 Full HD.

Control System for it all:
Logitech Harmony One Remote Control System.

Pictures:

Overall front view with grilles installed.

Overall front view without grilles installed.

As above but showing internal contents

Active 250w Subwoofer for AV System.

View showing KEF Surrounds on KEF stands

Bi Wired terminals.

The Currently Installed Cyrus combo awaiting connection of the PSX - R

The amazing Harmony one...

And this part will be installed in a few days when I am in a better position to evaluate its effectiveness. If it doesnt improve things the shop has agreed to give me 100% refund.

While I am here, Id like to give a big thumbs up to the national chain Audio T. My local shop has been amazing and allowed me to loan and demo equiptment at home and swop and change. Thats what you call old fashioned quality of service and its a real rarity these days. Thanks Dean.

The PSX-R? I'll be VERY surprised if you don't notice a difference. Try it with both the CD player and the amp. I ended up with TWO since my preamp seemed tighter WITH one. You can get them off e-bay at around £250.

As a completely divergent aside, why is the door handle in your room so high?

PS: your system is well stealthy with the grilles on and the unit doors shut, I like it

Not the best pic, and since redecorated with oak floors, retro school radiators etc.

Panasonic TH50PX60, Sony RDR-HXD870 (DVD-R/250gb HDD/FV), Yamaha RXV1800, Mission 764i (main), Mission centre (????), Mordaunt Short MS402 surrounds (x4 (7.1)), Inoi 500gb media HDD.

Also have in storage my old Cyrus II/PSX amp and Cyrus DAD7 CD player.

Will be adding a Freeview HD / Freesat HD 500gb HDD/BD-R(W) device when they get past the first two generations of such machine and have ironed out the bugs. Will probably upgrade the 50" to a 65" through a dubious house insurance claim too.

After a visit to Jeff's gaff....

dunx invested in :-

a pair of KEF XQ-20's on stands
a pair of Cyrus 8 power amps - bi-wired and bi-amped to the above....
a cyrus AV8 7.1 processor/3 channel amp

The beauty of it is that the Cyrus sounds superb in stereo, and for movies the surround is powerful enough to make me jump sometimes.

Had a Panasonic 32" 1080P TV
Added a Sony Blu-Ray player

and re-cycled his Kef "eggs" for centre, rear & surround duties.
Quad core HTPC full of terabytes for DVD collection.

And doesn't have a decent shot of it all as it's mostly black

There is also a smelly old Sony projector somewhere amongst all that clutter....

dunx

P.S. Lurking in the corners are two pairs of clam-shelled mounted Kef 139 bass units in custom band pass cabinets to make infra-sound.... and 7.2 !

Running JBL Control 5s for fronts, with a Mission Centre speaker, and Mission Rears.
Got a Tannoy sub.

Running through a Yamaha AX630 AV amp.

No Blu-ray, but got Xbox 360, Sky HD and music running off an Apple Mac Media setup (wirelessly over Airport to the amp)

Slowly getting my DVDs ripped onto 6 TB storage.

Networking also allows all Macs in house to access the Itunes library, and media drives (Audio interface is more than most - Mark Of The Unicorn 828 mk3 )

My studio also gets sent to the "hifi" as an alternative monitoring option - nice to hear my mixes through another setup - can also send any movies I'm working on to it too

My remote is my iphone - using either VNC Viewer or remote or air mouse. Hence my desire for an iPad (but that's a different thread! )

All gets shown on my Panasonic 42" Plasma.

A complex setup capable of so much, but easy to use by the entire family
