Michael Foot let the labour nutters out of the box and suffered the biggest election defeat ever against the cons.
Tony Blair realised his mistake, put the nutters back in the box, hence new labour.
As soon as labour won the election in 97, he began to let the nutters out of the box, and gave them key positions in the cabinet, hence the **** this country is in today.
And if Michael Foot would have had his way, the Soviet Union would still exist and so would the Berlin wall.

 

He was one of those rare people,a principled and honest politician. When he rose to speak, everyone listened, he was a star at public speaking.

I never supported his politics but admired him as a person, as in fact Maggie did too!

He was unlucky to have a crowd of arguying prats in his party who screwed up his efforts at governing the country.
