ANPR and company cars
Our company car insurance goes something along the lines of "Any vehicle owned by, on lease or hire to the company" which basically is an open car policy. As far as Im aware no registrations are listed on the policy.
If this is the case, how does ANPR reacte to a car registration that is not listed on a policy?

*Someone* will be the registered keeper so they get the ticket. They then have to say who was driving so eventually your mate* will get the ticket for the excess speed he was doing.

Our fleet insurance certificate states "Any car / goods vehicle owned by the policyholder or hired or leased to them..." but in the small print, it only applies to vehicles we notify to them. If we want to add or temporarily swap a vehicle, we just phone our broker and give them the details.
The insurance company then pass the details on to the Insurance Database, so if you check:
ASKMID
it shows the fleet vehicles as being insured.
I've noticed with my own car that it can sometimes take a couple of days for the details to reach the Database.

You used to have fourteen days to notify the MIB: now seven I believe. Someone will be responsible for notifying the insurers about the cars on-risk and theyll update the database.

The chances are the company will have provided a list of VRMs (assuming they own vehicles) to their ins co who will update the MIB accordingly to show ins held.
However, if they dont own cars, say for example they are an MOT station and their insurance is for driving customers cars - you will find that the drivers will be very familiar with the law surrounding insurance (which can be complex and I wont go into it here!) and what they can and cant do.
HTH.
